La revista infantil Niños del Siglo celebró sus 2 añitos. Este año quisimos ayudar a Jardín de Opciones en una misión humanitaria de recolectar fondos para llevar

útiles escolares a la República Dominicana.

Fue un evento espectacular donde los niños disfrutaron de la presencia de Mickey Mouse y Pluto, del Payaso Azucarín, del artista infantil “Ariel Pa’la Calle”, pinta caritas, comida, concursos, bailes y premios. La actividad estuvo conducida por Evelyn Santiler y nuestro querido Dj Palacios.

Agradecemos de corazón a todas y cada una de las personas que tuvieron que ver para que este evento fuera posible, especialmente al señor presidente de Siglo21, Media Group, Víctor González, a Isabel González, a Jardín de Opciones y su equipo, a Jáquez Party, a My

Niños del Siglo children’s magazine celebrated its 2nd anniversary. This year we wanted to help Jardín de Opciones on a humanitarian mission to collect funds for school supplies for needy children in the Dominican Republic. It was a spectacular event where children enjoyed the presence of Mickey Mouse and Pluto, Azucarín the Clown, the children’s singer “Ariel Pa’la Calle”, face painting, food, contests, dancing and awards. Evelyn Santiler and our beloved DJ Palacios conducted the activity. We sincerely thank every single person that was involved in making this event possible, especially to the president of Siglo21, Media Group, Víctor González, Isabel González, Jardin de Opciones and its team, Jaquez Party, My Little Angel Decorating, Azucarín Productions, Raul Productions, Lawrence Senior Center, Toflare Photography and all the sponsors in general. Thank you for joining us on our anniversary party. My advice, children and young people is an enhancement for you to study so that in the future we have more managers and creators of children’s magazines and of course others that will become professionals.

Mateo 13Todo el mundo quería ver a Jesús, para escuchar las historias que él contaba. Un día Jesús estaba sentado junto al Mar de Galilea, entonces contó esta historia:

“Había un granjero que estaba plantando semillas en su campo. Algunas semillas ca-yeron sobre el camino difícil que el agricultor caminó. Los pájaros vieron estas semillas; volaron ha-cia abajo y se las comieron.

“Algunas semillas cayeron junto al camino donde había un montón de rocas, pero no faltaba tierra allí. Las pequeñas plantas rá-pidamente comenzaron a crecer. Pero cuando el sol salió, las plantas murieron. Necesitaban suelo profundo para seguir creciendo, por eso sus raíces no pudieron llegar al agua en el suelo debajo de las rocas.

“Algunas de las semillas cayeron en tierra buena. Allí estaban a salvo de los pájaros. Cuando esas semillas germinaron, fue fácil para que echaran sus raíces de-bajo de la tierra blanda. Sus tallos crecieron fuertes bajo la luz del sol.

“En poco tiempo, el fruto creció en las plantas. Las plantas eran cada vez más grandes y fuertes. Y a medida que crecían, más frutos tenian. Cada una de estas plantas produjo semillas fuertes y sanas”. Este fue el final de la historia de Jesús.

Luego Jesús explicó, «La palabra de Dios es como las semillas. Algunas personas escuchan la palabra de Dios, pero no la siembran en sus corazones. Ellos no la siguen. Son como las semillas que se comen los pájaros.

«Otras personas oyen la pala-bra de Dios y la recuerdan por un rato. Cuando tienen proble-mas, se olvidan de Dios. No piden a Dios que los prote-ja. Estas personas son como las semillas que crecen entre las rocas.

«Hay otras personas que son como las semillas entre las malas hierbas y las espinas. Ellos ponen otras cosas antes que a su amor por Dios. Pron-

to no queda lugar para Dios en sus vidas y su fe en Él se desvanece.

«Pero algunas personas son como las semillas plantadas en la tierra buena. Cuando el amor de Dios se siembra en ellas, comienza a crecer. Luego puede compartir su amor con los demás».

Matthew 13Everyone wanted to see Jesus. They loved listening to the stories he used to tell. One day Jesus was sit-ting by the Sea of Galilee. So he got into a boat and pushed it little way out on the water. Then Jesus told this story:

“There was a farmer who was planting seeds in his field. Some seeds fell onto the hard path where the farmer walked. The birds saw these seeds. They flew down and ate all the seeds.

Some seeds fell beside the path. There were lots of rocks along the path. The little seeds fell in between the rocks, but there was very little soil there. The small plants sprouted and quickly began to grow by the rocks. When the hot sun came, the plants soon dried up. They needed deep soil to continue growing. But their roots could not reach the water in the soil beneath the rocks.

Some seeds fell where there were weeds and thorns. These seeds grew into plants. But the weeds and thorns were stronger. They took all the water and blocked out the sunlight. The new plants could never grow strong.

“Some of the seeds fell into the good dirt. Here they were safe from the birds. Where the seeds sprouted, it was easy for their roots to push down into the soft dirt. Soon the seeds were strong young plants. Their stems reached up to the sunlight. Their roots pushed down to the water.

Before long, grain grew on the plants. The plants kept getting bigger and stronger. And as they grew, more grain grew on them. Each of these plants pro-duced strong and healthy seeds.” This was the end of Jesus’ story.

The people who had listened to Jesus said, “Teacher, we do not understand this story. Can you explain it to us?”

Jesus answered their question. He said, “God’s word is like the seeds. Some people hear God’s word but do not take it into their hearts. They do not follow him. They are like the seeds eaten by the birds.

“Other people hear God’s word and remember it for a little while. When they have problems, they forget about God. They do not ask God to protect them. These people are like the seeds growing among the rocks.

‘There are other people who are like the seeds among the weeds and thorns. They put other things before their love for God. Soon there is no room for God in their lives and their belief in Him goes away.

“But some people are like the seeds planted in the good soil. When God’s love is planted in them, it begins to grow. Then they can share His love with others.”

Respect goes beyond difficult conversations, of course. Being helpful and considerate toward

family members, teachers, or coaches in our everyday actions helps all of us (again, parents included!) establish a foundation for those times when we might disagree.

Use “I” statements to communicate how you feel, what you think, and what you want or need. Using

“you” statements can sound argumentative. For example, telling your mom or dad, “You always remind me about my chores on Wednesdays when you know I have a lot of homework” has a very different tone from “I’m feeling pressured because I have a lot of homework tonight. Can I do those chores tomorrow?”

Ingredientes:- Huevos- Zanahorias- Aceitunas negras sin semilla- Pimiento rojo

Utensilios:- Un sorbeto de plástico- Un cuchillo- Un pelador

Paso 1. Cocemos los huevos junto con unas cuantas rodajas de zanahoria. Cuando estén hechos, los dejamos enfriar.

albaricoque con yogurPelamos los mangos y los albaricoques. En la batidora mezclamos la pulpa del mango y de los albaricoques, junto con el zumo de limón, el edulcorante, el yogur y los cubitos de hielo. Lo trituramos todo con ayuda de la batidora hasta que quede un batido de mezcla ho-mogénea.

Ingredientes:2 mangos maduros.

300 gramos de alba-

ricoques maduros.

1 limón.200 gramos de yo-

gur natural.

2 cucharadas de

edulcorante líquido.

Cubitos de hielo.

Apricot and mango smoothie with yogurtIngredients:-2 ripe mangoes.-300 grams of ripe apricots.-1 lemon.-200 grams of plain yogurt.-2 tablespoons of liquid sweetener.-Ice cubes.

Peel the mangoes and apricots. In a

blender mix the mangoes pulp and apricots, along with the lemon juice, sweetener,

yogurt and ice cubes. Grind

them all with the help of a mixer until it is a well blended smoothie.

Step 2. Peel the eggs (let your parents do this part) and with a knife, carefully not to break the yolks, cut 5 eggs in a zigzag. Leave one uncut, as it will be the hen.

Paso 3. Con la ayuda de un descorazonador, hacemos un círculo en una de las zanahorias y des-pués lo cortamos en me-dias lunas. Necesitaremos dos por huevo.

Step 3. With the help of a fruit reamer, do a circle on one of the carrots and then cut it into half moons. You will need two per egg.

Paso 4. Partimos las aceitunas por la mitad de manera longitudinal. Con la sorbeto, vamos sacando circulitos, que serán los ojos de nuestros pollitos y gallina.

Step 4. Then cut the olives in half longitudinally. With the straw, take the circles, which are the eyes of the chicks and chickens.

Paso 5. Ahora sólo queda decorar nuestros huevos. Le ponemos a cada uno dos rodajas de zanahoria para hacerles el pico y las aceitunas para los ojos; para hacer la gallina, cortaremos 3 medias circunferencias en un trozo de pimiento rojo, con las que haremos la cresta.

Step 5. Now only decorate your eggs. Put two slices of each carrot to make the peak and olives for the eyes to make the chicken, cut 3/2 circles on a piece of red pepper, with which you will make the crest.

- Pintura acrílica blanca (opcional)- Brillantina (opcional)

- Piedras brillantes (opcional)

Jewelry box YOU’LL NEED:- A bundle of sticks of wood the size you want- Cola vinyl- Buttons- Brush- Paper butter- White acrylic paint (optional)- Glitter and Sparkling Stones (optional)

Primero pega unos palitos sobre el papel

Paste the first few sticks on wax paper, side by side to form a square and cut the excess paper.

¡A experimentar con tus ref lejos!¿Te cuento qué es un reflejo?

Es una acción involuntaria de tu cuerpo frente a un estímulo, que se produce cuando el cuerpo reacciona en forma automática, como cuando

mueves la mano instantáneamente si tocas algo caliente. Mueves la mano antes de que el mensaje: “¡Uy, tengo la mano sobre algo

caliente!» llegue al cerebro. Todo esto es¡Gracias, a los reflejos!

¿Qué necesitas?• Un libro pesado • Una persona a quién sorprender

Haz lo siguiente: 1. Sorprende a algún amigo o familiar arrojan-do un libro grande al suelo.

2. ¿Qué sucede cuando el libro cae haciendo ruido? ¿La persona a la que buscas sorprender, se sobresalta, mueve la cabeza, pestaña, levanta las manos o grita? Si hace alguna de estas cosas, has visto cómo funciona un reflejo.

¿Qué demuestra esto?Que los reflejos funcionan más rápido que los mensajes que llegan al cerebro.

It is an involuntary action of your body to a stimulus, which occurs when the body reacts automatically, like when you move your hand instantly if you touch so-mething hot. You move your hand before the message: “Oops, I have my hand over something hot!” reaches your brain. All this is thanks to the reflexes!

What do you need?• A heavy book.• At least one person to surprise.

Do the following: 1. Surprise a friend or family member by throwing a large book on the floor.

2. What happens when the book falls, making noise? Does the person you surprised, jump, move his (her) head, blinks, or raises his (her) hands or shouts? If you see any of these things, you’ve seen how a reflex works.

What does this demonstrate?That your reflexes work faster than the messa-ges that reach your brain.
