About UsFounded in 1912, HSGKC celebrates over 100 years of faithful service to the lost, abandoned, and broken pets of the Greater Kansas City area.
We receive no funding from the city, state or federal govern-ment or any national humane society, including the Humane Society of the United States. We provide much needed care and services for the animals in our community, and we depend entirely on the generous donations of animal-lovers like you!
No-Kill Shelter• In 1994 we became the first No-Kill Shelter in the KC metro
area.
• Many of the pets in our shelter were originally at the KCK Animal Services city shelter and were injured or sick and in need of the life-saving veterinary care that we provide.
Affordable Care Clinic• Our clinic provides affordable spay/neuter and veterinary
care services for the public six days a week.
• Proper veterinary care and education is essential to keep-ing pets healthy and happy, and affordable care helps fami-lies from having to give up their beloved pets or euthanize them during difficult financial times.
• By providing affordable spay/neutering services, we are reducing pet overpopulation and saving lives.
Ray of Hope• Ray of Hope is the life-saving partnership between HSGKC
and the KCK Animal Services city shelter, allowing thou-sands of dogs and cats to be given a second chance.
• The dogs and cats at the KCKAS city shelter are under the veterinary care of our HSGKC clinic staff.
• Our volunteers conduct satellite adoption events for KCKAS pets every weekend at the PetSmart in Olathe.
