The 2008 Lincoln MKX has more than enough power to keep your ambitions in high gear. Its 3.5L Duratec V-6 engine

produces a lively 265 hp and 250 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s so inspiring, in fact, that the V-6 was named one of Ward’s

10 Best Engines1 in their 13th annual competition. Excellent launch and acceleration performance are delivered by a

6-speed automatic transmission, which actual ly adapts to your driving style to tai lor shif ts accordingly. Add the

optional Class I I Trailer Tow Package, and Lincoln MKX can tow up to 3500 lbs. For more capability in all weather

conditions, an optional Intell igent All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system makes any drive even more exhilarating. This

on-demand AWD system constantly monitors driver and vehicle inputs, predicts traction and delivers the

appropriate amount of torque to all four wheels, reacting before wheel slippage can even occur. Together with

standard AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability ControlTM), it can transfer torque both front to rear and side to side,

keeping Lincoln MKX moving even if only one wheel has traction.

A sol id foundation contr ibutes greatly to the smooth handling characteristics of Lincoln MKX’s luxury-tuned,

fully independent front and rear suspension. The MacPherson strut front suspension, mounted to an isolated subframe,

employs hydrobushings to reduce unwanted steering wheel vibration. The shock absorbers for the independent rear

suspension are mounted outboard and behind the wheel center to help maximize rider comfort and increase

driver control. To slow any of MKX’s three wheel choices — including the available 20" chrome-clad aluminum

wheels — a 4-wheel disc Anti-lock Brake System is standard.

TURN FOR BETTER VISIBILITY.

Picture this scenario. It’s late at night. You’re visiting a city for the first time. The road twists and turns. There are

no familiar landmarks to lead the way. As you navigate sweeping curves, your headlamps — your only source of

light — pivot with each turn of the steering wheel to increase your down-the-road visibility. That’s exactly what

will happen with the available adaptive headlamps on the 2008 Lincoln MKX. Based on steering wheel angle and

vehicle speed, motorized halogen low-beam projector headlamps turn in the same direction that Lincoln MKX

is turning. The results are quite illuminating. When compared to conventional headlamps, this simple swiveling

action makes up to 36 more feet of the roadway visible around a curve. You’ll see better at night and have more

time to react to obstacles ahead. From the rear, other drivers will clearly see Lincoln MKX at night because of the

full-width illumination of its elegant rear lighting panel. Flanking the prominent Lincoln Star that centers the liftgate,

16 Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) will quickly let others know who they’re following.

AdvanceTrac® with class-exclusive1 RSC® (Roll Stability ControlTM), standard on

every Lincoln MKX, is an electronic stability enhancement system that actually

measures what other manufacturers’ systems ignore or can only estimate. Our

system features a vehicle-roll motion sensor that directly measures the vehicle’s

roll-rate at least 100 times every second to help determine when and how it will

utilize AdvanceTrac’s Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), traction control and yaw control

to help keep all four wheels of Lincoln MKX firmly planted.

An array of six standard airbags enhances protection in Lincoln MKX. Driver and

front-passenger coverage includes dual-stage front airbags and front-seat side

airbags, while all outboard passengers benefit from the side-curtain airbags in the

Safety Canopy® System. In certain types of side impacts, these airbags deploy from

the headliner to cover both rows of the vehicle. Additional protection for the driver

comes from a stroking steering column, which functions like a shock absorber to
