BUILD, LINK, TRANSFORM 2017 Negosyo Fair displayed to thousands as it worked to “Con-nect MSMEs and Create Opportunities.” More than 300 entrepreneurs and would-be busi-nessmen gathered at the ITDI-DOST exhibition held at the SM Megatrade Halls from 22-24 June 2017. ITDI’s participation to the fair was funded by DOST-GIA (Grants-in-Aid) program.

From 22-24 June 2017, more than 300 would-be businessmen gathered at the ITDI-DOST exhibition at the 2017 Negosyo Fair organized by the Regional Operations Group (ROG) of DTI in the biggest gathering of entrepreneurs and would-be businessmen, industry experts, and program partners at the SM Mega Trade Halls in Mandaluyong City.

Led by ROG (Regional Operations Group) Undersecretary Zenaida Cuison-Maglaya and Assistant Secretary Ameenah A. Fajardo, the event was organized by the Negosyo Center Program Management Unit. It partnered with three other DTI agencies such as IPG-EMB, IDG-BOI, and MSG-HRAS, and Ariva Academy in the conduct of the Business Counsellors Conference. As well, it conjoined with DOST through ITDI, PTRI, FNRI, and DOST-NCR. DOST Undersecretary Brenda L. Nazareth-Manzano delivered a message for the Department while Shamsey Supsup-Lee, Miss Universe-Philippines 2011, gave a testimonial as a Negosyo Center beneficiary.

At ITDI, some six innovations in food using three machines developed by the Food Innovation Center or FIC-Main were featured. Using three FIC-developed machines, namely, water retort, spray dryer, and vacuum fryer, ITDI displayed six products as follows: 1) Bangus in oil (Water retort); 2) Pinakurat or spiced vinegar & 3) Cucumber-calamansi juice (Spray-dryer); 4) Okra, 5) Carrots, and 6) Squash (Vacuum fryer). Four other products of the Food Processing Division included drum-dried mango flakes, drum-dried macapuno flakes, drum-dried banana flakes, and ready-to-drink cacao tablea. Completing the ITDI exhibit line up were non-food technologies geared for transfer as follows: 1) Natural health supplement from guyabano, 2) Nano-clay from local bentonite as additive in polymer clay nanocomposite systems, 3) Small-scale dual-drum composter, 4) Ceramic water filter, and 5) OL Trap. Other DOST exhibitors include (left) DOST-NCR, Philippine Textile Research Institute, and Food and NutritionResearch Institute, which shared a booth with PTRI (not in photo).

Nearly a hundred commercial exhibitors (clockwise) participated in Negosyo Fair 2017 including Minute Burger, Waters Philippines, Inc., Ensaymadas and Pizzas, and Upscaled Food, Inc.
