QUESTIONS

Questions?

What is the main function of control/feedback?

What is the more important information would you

save from a process control project?

What is an optimum (great) control project?

How does nature "solve" this problem?

Why do industry control projects sometimes not work?

The most valuable information

What is an optimum (great) control project?

What is an optimum (great) control project?

How does nature "solve" this problem?

• Multivariable systems Multivariable Control (always

operating, but alternating dominant effects)

• Multivariable Control ≠ Dense matrix control (APC old

days)

The number of controllers required for a MISO or SIMO system to operate

properly in closed loop must be at least equal to the highest number of MVs or

CVs in this system. If we restrict to the minimum, this condition is sufficient,

since all relations between CVs and MVs can still be taken into account. The

required condition of this heuristic is also true for MIMO systems. However, in

this case, the sufficiency condition does not apply because the minimum

number of controllers may be insufficient to ensure a good performance due to

the neglected relationships between CVs and VMs.
