Learn how to maximize the power of Networking

Yair Schoenfeld

“Implementing the principles of networking into your life, will make other peoples lives

much better, and will return to you as a huge business success”

“Networking Is about creating a system that will send you information about opportunities for your success”

“This information is held by other people, make sure they will pass it to

you”

The “Small world” phenomena. The rule of openness. The rule of generosity. The strength of weak ties. The “connectors”. Using social networks. “Make them love you”.

The principles of Networking:

The “Small world” phenomena

The “Six degrees of separation”

Were discovered by Prof. Stanley Milgram in 1967, and demonstrates the

“Small world phenomena”.

The world is smaller than we think. We are all part of an endless network. Nobody is too far, we can reach any other person. You always know someone that knows somebody… First, ask yourself: “what can I give to the other person?”.

The “Small world” phenomena:

“You will have everything you want in life, if you will help enough other people to get

what they want”

-Zig Zigler

The rule of openness

“Opportunities are always in the hands of other people – maximize the number of people in your life, and you will enjoy

more opportunities”

The rule of generosity

First, do small favors to others! Then, feel comfortable to ask for small

favors.

Small favors are the engine of networking!

If you will do small favors in big numbers to other people, some of them will feel

committed to pay you back one day, and will bring information about business

opportunities to your doorstep.

The strength of weak ties

Computers networks, electricity networks and social networks has something in common:

In order to exist, there must be a connection between the networks’ components. No connection = Network collapse!

Call them without a reason, just to hear how they are. Text them to tell them that you think about them. “Like” their social media activities. Invite them to meet over a cup of coffee. Arrange social events at your office or home.

Continually maintain your relationship with people that you meet along the

way.

The most effective connections are the 2nd and the 3rd level ties!

That’s because they are close enough to make the match, but also far enough to be

free of responsibility for the results.

People lives in groups. Maximize the number of groups that you are

a member of.

The “connectors”

In the book “The Tipping Point”, Malcolm Gladwell defined the “connectors”.A unique type of people that knows

everybody, and everybody knows them.

Obviously, “Connectors” carries much more relevant information for

your success than others.

Identify them. Help them to enlarge their network. They will pay you back…

The “Connectors” might be the catalyst of your success:

Behave like a “Connector”, and you might be one…

Always connect between people!

“Make them love you”

Make them LOVE you!

Keep an eye contact. Smile with a benevolent face. Smell good. Don’t “cry”, they have enough problems of their own…

Use the “Baby’s secrets”:

Keep an open body language. Reflect with your own words what they just told you. Listen more than you speak, and show real interest by

asking questions that develops the conversation.

Using social networks

Enjoy the power of technology in order to develop and maintain your

network.

Choose your preferred platforms and manage a personal profile.

Invite new people to be your friends/connections. Whenever they are updating their status, uploading

photos, etc…

“Like” it, write a comment or share it. Update your own status from time to time with information

and photos that will serve your interests and positioning.

Always send a “Thank you” email after the 1st meeting, and add the other person to your contacts.

Produce short professional video clips that presents your expertise, and upload it to your Youtube channel.

Make the world know about it by sending the link to your contacts, and also share it on Facebook, Linkedin, etc…
