Create a Fusesite Website – Now!Tutorial

Winter 2007Steps to setting up your website:

1. Start setting up your Fusesite website by clicking: “Create your own” fusesite. You can also find this link by scrolling down to the end of each webpage at www.fusesite.com

2. Fill in the required information about you and your site. You can revise any of this later including your site name. Please note that your email address and password will become your website login information

3. Choose a template and colour scheme for your website. You can

change these later!

4. Submit to create your website:

Congratulations! You’ve just done the initial set up for your website. Just like an artist starts with a blank canvas, this template becomes the canvas you use to populate and design your website to your needs by adding text, graphics, colours, and changing navigation. The next step: Login to your website to let the creation begin.

5. Login to your website:a. Scroll down to the bottom of your website template pageb. Click on “Login” to this sitec. Type in your username (email address you provided in site

setup, step no. 2 above)d. Type in the password you selected when setting up

6. Designing your website:Once logged in, an administrator’s panel opens and content boxes appear. Both are described below in more detail.

Administration Panel:

Content Box:The content area also opens when you first login to your website. Click on

the plus sign to open a content box:

This is where you change your registration details.

Update or change your site setup details.

Select the font style that you want. Please note your visitors may see a different font depending on their browser settings. Times, Verdana, Arial are web-safe fonts meaning all your visitors have them on their computers.

You can swap templates at any time and all your navigation elements and content automatically swap into your new template.

Choose colours for the different areas of your site. A good colour selector site is: http://www.webwhirlers.com/colors/wheel.asp -- Spin the colour wheel to be inspired.

Add webpages by selecting “add a new navigation element. Move them around by using the up and down arrows. Turn them into subnavigation elements by using the right arrow. Turn on the email features to enable your website with automated features for guestbooks, photo albums and subscribe functionality.

Hide administration panel icons, such as the image upload icon, if you find them distracting.

Click “logout” to close your website session. All the changes you made and new content you entered is now live in the internet.

Type your paragraph headline, and add your paragraph text, then click the save button.
