Halloween is coming and that means that the treats will be plentiful. As much as we love our treats so do our 4 legged furry friends. Prepare your house by keeping the sweet treats far away from where your pet can have access to them. Keep them in the cabinets or up high. An emergency trip to the veterinarian should not be on your list of things to do this holiday season. Donation Opportunities: The Flagler Humane Society are still collecting shoes. We welcome all shoes regardless of size, type, or condition. Additional drop off locations can be found on the Flagler Humane Society website. “Doghouse Donation Boxes” are found at all the fire stations in Flagler County. You can drop off donations anytime at your nearest fire station. FHS appreciates all donations, especially those from our Wish List (available at flaglerhumanesociety.org/wish-list). You can also purchase items via the Amazon.com link on the FHS website and ship them directly to the shelter. Outreach Adoption Events: Don’t forget that FHS have volunteers and adoptable pets at the Farmer’s Market in Flagler Beach every Friday and at PetSmart in Palm Coast every Saturday and Sunday. If you are interested in volunteering at these events, please contact Katie at kshare@flaglerhumanesociety.org. We are in need of volunteers for our Walmart Booth on October 17-18. Walmart draws in a fair amount of donations but we need you to help us with this event!!! We will be participating in another Mega Adoption Event in Jacksonville on October 9-11. It will be from 10 am – 6 pm each day. Adoption fees are only greatly reduced and we will be doing same day adoptions. Don’t forget that we will be at the Creekside Festival also that same weekend. We will be there Oct. 10th and 11th from 10am - 5pm. Swing by our booth! Adoption Specials: October will hold a “spectacular” cat adoption special with some of our “boo-tiful” dogs also on special. Check the FHS Facebook as October 1st gets closer. Upcoming Fundraisers/Events: Save the date for the October Yappy Hour that will be hosted by Turtle Shack on October 26th from 6 pm – 8 pm. Public Announcements: The Flagler Humane Society has a variety of subsidized spay and neuter programs for members of the community that need to have their pets or community pets sterilized. Please call FHS at 386-445-1814, email info@flaglerhumanesociety.org for questions. FHS is opening a wellness clinic for minor veterinary issues. Appointments can be made by calling the customer service line at 386-445-1814. Low cost vaccination clinics will still be held on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from 1pm-3pm. No appointments are necessary. FHS also offers a “Pet Food Pantry” for those that are in need of assistance. Please call to see if you qualify. To keep up with Flagler Humane Society happenings – visit us on the FHS Facebook/Twitter, our website at www.flaglerhumanesociety.org, or via email at info@flaglerhumanesociety.org.
