globalnews.ca - The Govern-ment of Saskatchewan says it has accepted a SaskPower rate increase of 3.5 per cent, which will come into effect on March 1. This represents an increase of around $4 on monthly resi-dential power bills for custom-ers of the Crown corporation. Government officials said Wednesday that they decided to accept a lower rate increase compared to the original re-quest of five per cent. “With their revised fis-cal forecasts during the rate review period, government agrees with the (Saskatche-wan) Rate Review Panel that SaskPower can meet this chal-lenge in 2018 with a lower in-crease,” Minister Responsible for SaskPower Dustin Duncan said in a press release. “We will continue to chal-lenge SaskPower, and all gov-ernment agencies, to do more with less, and without com-promising service to Saskatch-

FOR RELEASE THURSDAY, JAN. 25, 2018
BY FRANCIS DRAKE
What kind of day will tomorrow be? To find out what the stars say, read the fore-cast given for your birth sign.
For Friday, Jan. 26, 2018ARIES(March 21 to April 19)This is a pleasant, upbeat day.
Nevertheless, you might briefly want totell someone off! Don’t do it, becausethere really is no upside to this. Put a lidon it.
TAURUS(April 20 to May 20)You might be impulsive today when it
comes to spending money. Guard againstthis, because this is not something youlike to do.
GEMINI(May 21 to June 20)Today the Moon is in your sign and
opposite fiery Mars — briefly.Unfortunately, this can trigger volatilearguments! It’s best to be patient, if onlyfor a short while.
CANCER(June 21 to July 22)Today you feel riled up about some-
thing, especially when it comes to a co-worker. today. Don’t get your belly in arash. Let it go, because whatever irritatesyou will be gone very quickly.
LEO(July 23 to Aug. 22)A conversation with a female acquain-
tance might irritate you. Nevertheless, don’t alienate someone (he or she willremember it forever) simply becauseyou can’t resist sending them a zinger.Bite your tongue.
VIRGO(Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)Be patient with parents and bosses
today, because you might have a quarrelwith someone in a position of power.Don’t throw your weight around. Thinkof your own best interests.
LIBRA(Sept. 23 to Oct. 22)You might impulsively decide to
travel somewhere today. You also mightenter into a discussion about politics orreligion. Don’t alienate others. Just listen(if you can).

SCORPIO(Oct. 23 to Nov. 21)Disputes about shared property, inher-
itances and differing values might flareup into an argument early in the day.Don’t get sucked into this. Maintainyour cool.
SAGITTARIUS(Nov. 22 to Dec. 21)Avoid arguments with close friends,
family members and partners, becauseit’s easy to fall into this trap today. Butthe temptation will be brief! Mum’s theword.
CAPRICORN(Dec. 22 to Jan. 19)Be patient with co-workers today to
avoid arguments, especially earlier in theday. Don’t throw your weight around. Bea role model. Demonstrate grace underpressure.
AQUARIUS(Jan. 20 to Feb. 18)Lovers’ quarrels might occur today.
Likewise, relationships with your kidsmight also flare up in an angry way —but they will subside quickly. Don’t takeanything to heart.
PISCES(Feb. 19 to March 20)Family disputes might take place this
morning, especially with a female familymember. Don’t even go there. Give thesedisagreements a wide berth, becauselater in the day, everything will be justfine.
YOU BORN TODAY You are vigor-ous, energetic and bold. (And yes, rebel-lious!) You are self-confident, and youlove a challenge. This is a wait-and-seeyear — more slower paced. You needrest and rejuvenation. It’s a time of coop-eration with others. Focus on businessand personal relationships. Look forways to practice kindness and be helpfultoward others. Be calm, cool and pleas-ant.

ewan homes and businesses.” The Saskatchewan NDP brought up that this is the third SaskPower rate increase, totalling 12 per cent, in less than two years. “These rate increases show how badly the Sask. Party has mismanaged a booming econo-my,” SaskPower critic Cathy Sproule said. “Despite a decade of record resource reve-nue, the Sask. Party also brought in cruel and heartless cuts and raised taxes – including the PST – by about $1 billion. The people of Sas-katchewan deserve better.” SaskPower president and CEO Mike March said the 3.5 per cent will allow them to contin-ue investing in the grid and investigate ways to save money. “The power has to be on when and where we need it. SaskPower also has to be financially responsible with its operations,” Mike Marsh said in a press release. “That’s why we’ve optimized our process-es, reduced administrative costs and we plan to reduce this spending by an additional $142 million in the next three years using various restraint measures.”

Lawyers should never ask a Southern grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer. In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?" She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a young boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you." The lawyer was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?" She again replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a young-ster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone and his law prac-tice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him." The defense attorney almost died. The judge asked both counselors to ap-proach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said, "If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you to the electric chair.
