P5 Towerbank Learning@Home : Monday 22 nd – Friday 26 th February, 2021 P5 Towerbank Learning@Home Monday 22 nd – Friday 26 th February, 2021 Literacy and English • Reading: Listen to Miss Gow reading Chapter 14 of Night Bus Hero on Teams or read the short extract from the story in the Literacy Resources section. As well as the themes of homelessness and bullying, kindness is another important theme throughout the story. Once you have listened to the chapter (this video will also discuss the questions) or read the extract, answer the questions below the extract in sentences and complete the Kind Hands task. • Speech Marks: Watch Speech Marks Lesson 2 on the Primary 5 Stream Channel before completing this task. If you did not watch Lesson 1, watch that first as it covers how to correctly punctuate direct speech. Complete the speech marks worksheet in the Literacy Resources section of this pack. There is a Mild and Medium/Spicy option. A copy has also been uploaded to the Files section on Teams so you can also edit it there. • ASSIGNMENT: Writing: ‘Unlikely Friends’ ➢ Write about the moment your unlikely pair of best friends first met! ➢ Using your knowledge of direct speech from the Speech Marks lessons, can you include the conversation they had, remembering all the punctuation and layout rules! ➢ Look out for some writing tips in Speech Marks Lesson 2 on the P5 Stream channel. Please post your writing in our Assignments channel. • Spelling: I’m a Celebrity... Spelling Challenge – Week 5! Keep practising your choice of words from your lists, or choose from this week’s new list of adjectives ending in ‘-ful’ (e.g. grateful, colourful, powerful, beautiful), which you will find in our literacy resources section, alongside a word search and blank word search grid for you to use with your chosen spelling words. How many stars will you win this week?! Can you beat your best score? Thinking either about the donkey and the dog, or else choosing an unlikely animal pairing of your own, consider: In what ways are these two creatures different? In what ways might they be similar? How do you think they met each other? How have they become best friends?
This document is posted to help you gain knowledge. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think about it! Share it to your friends and learn new things together.

2. Place the strips vertical like tree trunks. Add a few short pieces for branches on the birch tree.
3. Paint watercolours over the entire piece of paper/card. Try to use mostly cool colours: purple,
blues, and a little green.
4. While the paint is still wet, sprinkle salt on the paint. This will create a sparkly effect.
5. When the paint is dry, carefully remove the tape. If part of the paper comes up, don’t panic. Try
to remove it the best you can and glue any parts that ripped back down. 6. With a black crayon, outline the trees. Add multiple short horizontal lines to each trunk and
