SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT
STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
On Wednesday, March 25, 2015 the Rockaway Rotary Club honored students from Copeland Middle School in Rockaway Township and Thomas Jefferson School in Rockaway Borough as part of our “Student of the Month” program. Principals F. Scott Allshouse from Copeland Middle School and Mark Schwarz from Thomas Jefferson School
introduced students James Morris (RT) and Thomas Ortega (RB) and spoke about each of our recipients, outlining their outstanding
qualifications for this award.
ROCKAWAY ROTARY HONORS MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENTS
At this past Wednesday’s club meeting, the Rockaway Rotary Club presented the music departments of Thomas Jefferson School (RB) and Copeland Middle
School (RT) donations of $300 in memory of former club president (79-80) and Broadway star, Earl Sauvain, who died this past year. Earl starred in many Broadway productions including being cast in the original “Annie Get Your Gun” by Richard Rodgers. Earl was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow and also was chairman of the district Scholarship Committee during his
membership in our club.
PROPOSED NEW MEMBER
Cheryl (Cheri) Foster, owner of Mane Attraction Salon on Route 46, has been recommended for membership by Susan Simon-Spada and has been approved by the Board of Directors. Anyone with questions or wishing to comment on this proposed
membership should contact President Janice.
EASTER BUNNY BREAKFAST
“THANK YOU” to all who helped make our breakfast a success, the Rotarians who assisted with the greeting, serving, etc., Hannah Ferguson, Lily Kass, and Zach Steinberg for taking the Easter Bunny pictures, and all community members who came to
enjoy the breakfast and support our charitable efforts. A special recognition to Applebee’s of Rockaway for hosting the event and to President Janice for chairing the breakfast…. and of course, thank you to our very own “Easter Bunny” who returned from the hills to join the fun! The proceeds from the breakfast will benefit our efforts to “Fight Hunger in our Communities” through donations to the Rockaway Food
Closet. ROCKAWAY ROTARY @ WORK
