painters field studies and the paintings they inspired. A unique display of original paintings created by 41 Minnesota art-ists. This exhibit provides a rare peek into the creative process that begins in the field, or plein air, where the artist works to quickly capture the fleeting light, shadow and atmosphere on canvas, board or paper. The artist must be prepared to tolerate any outdoor element, be it rain, snow, sleet, wind, extreme heat or cold and, of course, gnats and mosquitoes. All this in addition to sometimes navigating perilous terrain while carrying their painting supplies to the perfect location. The outdoor field study can stand on its own as a finished piece, or it can be used as inspiration or reference for a larger work, usually completed in the studio. Each of the artists will have a grouping of small plein air sketches or studies displayed next to the large format studio painting they inspired.

work by some of the worlds most cel-ebrated contemporary artists. Lesser-known are the master printers, whose technical expertise allows these artists to achieve the precise effects desired in their prints and whose innovations push the boundaries of the medium. This exhibition explores the inter-twined relationship between artist and master printer through a collection of
more than 20 prints including etchings, lithographs, monoprints, silkscreens, woodcuts and new technologies that synthesize digital tools and traditional approaches. Contemporary artists such as Ghada Amer and Reza Farkondeh, Chuck Close, Tara Donovan, Sol Lewitt, Claes Oldenberg, Kiki Smith and James Turrell have partnered with Pace, collaborating with master printers to solve thrilling technical puzzles and challenge the boundaries of contemporary printmaking. Opening Recep-tion: Sept. 25, 7-9pm Join Justin Israels, Pace Prints master printer, as he reveals techniques and tales behind prints in this exhibition. Refreshments will be served.

This affair takes place inside an American embassy behind the Iron Curtain. An American tourist, a caterer by trade, and his wife and daughter rush into the embassy two steps ahead of the police who suspect them of spying and picture taking. Its not much of a refuge, for the ambassador is absent and his son, now in charge, has been expelled from a dozen countries and the continent of Africa. Nevertheless, they carefully and frantically plot their escape, and the ambassadors son and the caterers daughter even have time to fall in love. Michelle Ronnebaum can finally breathe easy.
After years of battling chronic sinus infections and headaches, the simple act of breathing is no longer distracting and painful.
I have no recollection of ever being able to breathe like I can now, said the 38-year old Farmington mother of two.
It all changed with help from Gerard OHalloran, MD, an ear, nose and throat specialist who sees patients at FamilyHealth Medical Clinics. After three rounds of antibiotics with no relief, her primary care physician referred her to Dr. OHalloran.
A CT scan at Northfield Hospitals Medical Imaging department revealed a deviated septum and four enlarged turbinates. A single surgery corrected both problems.
The difference for Michelle is day and night. Her spring allergies are now tolerable, the sinus headaches disappeared and her sleep has improved.
When I go to sleep, I actually sleep now, Michelle said.Dr. OHalloran says Michelles experience demonstrates that there is hope for those with chronic sinus infections.
Michelle appreciates the easy access from her home in Farmington and the personalized care of Northfield Hospital, where her son was born a few years ago.
I was excited to go back, she said.

Jillian Rae Duo 8pmTavern Lounge, NorthfieldIf Jimi Hendrix was a violin-playing female, he would have been called Jillian Rae. Rae is one of Minnesotas biggest rising stars. This multi-talented violinist, vocalist and songwriter is renowned for her creative and dynamic style of violin playing, along with
passionate live performances. Jillian has been a heavy hitter in the Minnesota music scene for years, playing with as many musicians as humanly possible. In the past she had been known to lend her fiddle chops to the Duluth-based band Two Many Banjos and also spent some time fronting the local pop country staple, The Killer Hayseeds. Currently, when she isnt performing with her own band, you can still catch her playing fiddle and singing with a number of bands around town including: Corpse Reviver (early American folk, bluegrass), Steve Kaul & the Brass Kings (folk revisionist), Brian Just Band (60s California pop), The Fiddle Heirs (five fiddles and a bass) and The Blackberry Brandy Boys (Cosmic country).
