Location. Many say that location is everything. The Heber Valley is located only 50 minutes from the Salt Lake International Airport, 15 miles from Park City to the North (Summit County) and 20 miles from Provo to the West (Utah County). Heber Valley conveniently sits between two world-class ski resorts—Deer Valley Resort to the North and Sundance Resort to the Southwest. State Highways I-40 and I-189 are the major access points to the area. As a scenic drive, the Heber Valley is easy to visit. Traveling from major western cities is as follows: Phoenix, AZ: 698 miles, Denver, CO: 524 miles, Los Angeles, CA: 673 miles, Las Vegas, NV: 409 miles, Yellowstone National Park: 345 miles.
Geographic Identity. Wasatch County has a land area of 1,175 square miles (3,044 km), with 63 percent being dedicated to public lands. Wasatch County is also home to parts of Uinta National Forest, Wasatch National Forest, and Ashley National Forest. Three state parks reside in the Heber Valley—Deer Creek State Park, Jordanelle State Park, and Wasatch Mountain State Park. Numerous lakes, reservoirs, and rivers wind throughout the valley, including the popular Provo River. The valley sits at an elevation of 5595 with the Wasatch Mountains reaching more than 10,000 feet.
Weather Report. The average summer temperature in the Heber Valley is 80 degrees. Spring and Fall seasons are cool and mild. During the winter months, the Heber Valley is blessed with Utah’s “greatest snow on earth” which allows for a variety of snow activities and events. The annual average snowfall is 76 inches, while the rainfall averages 16 inches per year. Each season of the year has its own, unique characteristics, ranging from breezy winds in the spring, to warm and dry summer days, to a colorful burst of leaves in the fall.

Population. The population within Wasatch County has grown by 65 percent since 2002. The growth has continued its unprecedented climb which has led to Wasatch County being the fasted growing county in Utah and Heber City being consistently ranked as one of the nation’s fasted growing cities (Forbes Magazine). The current population within the county (as of 2016) is 30,000. The population is projected to grow to 60,000 by the year 2040.
Housing. The housing market in Wasatch County has steadily increased over the past two dec-ades and now offers a variety of homes of all sizes and budgets.
The Wasatch County Realtor’s Association represents the various real estate agents in the area and can provide current market information related to median home costs, the number of available homes, and other useful information. Public Education. Four public elementary schools (K-4), one intermediate school (5-6), one middle school (7-8), and one High School (9-12) are located in Wasatch County. Higher Education. Utah Valley University also has a strong presence in Wasatch County. Its 75,000 square foot building offers a variety of general education classes, associate and bachelor degree programs, and community education programs. Senior Citizen ResourcesWasatch County Senior Center
The Senior Center in partnership with Mountainland Association of Governments, provides Meals on Wheels for qualified homebound seniors and congregate meals at the center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Also available at the center are activities such as billiards, bingo, ceramics, chess club, knitting and handwork group, musical programs, piano lessons for seniors, checkers, socialization and more. The center also provides opportunities for seniors to attend special cultural events such as plays at the Hale Center Theater in Orem and the opportunity for travel, both day trips and extended trips and tours.
