http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/project-on-nokia-e-series 4/41
The Nokia E series is all about business. These are not mere phones, folks, they are thenerve centers of corporate communications. They are offices away from the office. Theytrack the pulse of the Stock Exchange and the current of commerce. They need to begood at making phone calls, too. Business devices are all about messaging, flexible
communications and reliability.
They’ve picked out 10 of the E series’ myriad talents we think you should know about.
Twiddling Thumbs E series is all about business communications. When you’re trying
to prepare an RFP for the MD ASAP, what you want is QWERTY. All bar three of the E-
series range come with full keyboards to make flexing your thumbs to create email on the
move fast and accurate.
Frequent Fliers: High-powered business users need bands – and not the sort that come
with a drum-kit and guitars. The E-series has got it covered, with a minimum of tri-band
and most likely quad-band communications: so you can go ahead and collect your air
miles without worrying that you might ever be out of touch.
Mail Man E-series devices run Nokia Messaging, which will give you access to all the
POP and IMAP you can throw at it. It’s also happy to talk using Mobile VPN, Nokia
Intellisync Mobile, and Mail for Exchange and Lotus Notes Traveler, enabling you to
connect to corporate, or personal, email swiftly and securely.
Management Speak Roaming E series users often have to hold meetings while they’re
on the move and stay in touch with multiple members of the team. E series devices
support conference calling across the range, plus group distribution of text messages. As
you’d expect, they also handle call waiting, call divert and call hold without breaking a
sweat.
Battery Powered The last thing you need when you’re closing the deal is a power cut. E
series devices are built to last. The Nokia E5, for example, boasts a whopping 18h 30m of
4
8/6/2019 Project on Nokia E Series
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/project-on-nokia-e-series 5/41
talk time – that’s more talk time than you get standby time on a lesser phone. Talking of
standby, you get 705 hours on the E5. We’ve owned pets that didn’t last that long.
Safe as Houses E series takes security seriously. Set up the Remote Lock feature,
available on most recent E series devices, and – if it’s lost – you can simply send your
device a message to stop prying eyes unearthing your business secrets. You can take it
even further, too, by setting up encrypted memory cards or using mobile VPN.
Full Capacity The latest E series devices might be slim enough to slide inside a suit
pocket, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pack plenty of storage. The Nokia E5 will take
Micro SD cards up to 32GB enough for you to carry more PowerPoint than your
competitors. Keep the chairman’s video address to investors next to your heart.
Office to Go There’s no point having a mobile office if you can’t look at office docs on
the move. E series has you covered here, with Quick Office on board enabling you to
open and edit Word, PowerPoint and Excel docs and there’s Microsoft Mobile Office in
the pipeline.
Out of Hours Business users are people too, sometimes. Your phone should let you relax
at the end of a busy day, so you need a decent digital still and video camera, a music
player and radio. The Nokia E71 is a good example of mixing business with pleasure: as
well as all the corporate features above, you’ve got a 3.2 mega-pixel camera with LED
flash and auto-focus, a VGA video camera, support for six different digital music formats
and an FM Radio.
E is for… You might be thinking Enterprise or Executive, and they are certainly useful
memory aids for remembering what this series is all about. But no.. Nokia won’t be
drawn on what the letters stand for in its model naming conventions: E just stands for E
in this case.
Consumer Perception about Nokia E Series:
There are three things in particular that people are looking for:
5
8/6/2019 Project on Nokia E Series
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/project-on-nokia-e-series 6/41
Design: Nokia E series devices have become a benchmark for design.
Ease of Use: Whether they are business professionals, students, housewives or
entrepreneurs, all have busy lives, and want a device that works, and helps them
get about their days and nights without further frustration
Connectivity: Nokia E series devices ‘just work’.
Design • Look and quality
• Use of high-quality stainless steel
• Attractive designs
• Slim shape that feels good in both the pocket as well as in the hand.
Ease of Use • QWERTY keypad - easy to type, making messaging (email, SMS,IM)
• One-touch keys for calendar, contacts and email.
• ‘Switch mode’, which allows a person to switch from the ‘business’home-screen to the ‘personal’ home-screen.
Eg: while the business email account continues to sync withthe server, the user can choose not to view this mailbox on the home-screen.
Connectivity • Multi-task
• Access business and consumer email boxes and IM accounts right
from the home-screen.• Secure
• Maps with full voice-guided navigation
• Music
• web browsing
The E series devices are targeted for professional use, and naturally they introduce
relevant applications for this group of customers.
E series also offers the most advanced security features on any Nokia phones, including
device lock, remote lock, data encryption for phone memory and many others.
Nokia E Series Vs Blackberry:
6

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/project-on-nokia-e-series 7/41
Since E Series survey was conducted, we came to a conclusion that most of the people
still prefer BlackBerry handset to use which is the competitors against E Series. So wedid a survey which results as follows:
Features Nokia E Series Blackberry
Terrific e-mail
Seems to have awesome e-mailservices on the E72
“Great e-mail on the move.”
Design
The E71 looks awesome.
Real metal structure,
great materials,
pretty slick engineering.
The vicious red power button is the negative thingabout the looks.
The device looks great.
complete black face,
chrome border and sides, faux black leather back. the device looks
great
Build
quality Great build quality for the
most part across the board,as do BlackBerrys.
Built like an absolute tank.Literally. We don’t think we could break this thing if we tried.
The BlackBerry extremely well built. Notincluding minor screen scratches andthings of that nature, the Bold should be
able to last you as long as you want tokeep the thing.
7
8/6/2019 Project on Nokia E Series
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/project-on-nokia-e-series 8/41
Size E71 feels much better whenholding it.
It is larger in every way.
little hard to hold in one hand.
we’re going to call this one a tie because of the pretty comfy Bold QWERTY
Screen E71s screen is decent. “BlackBerry’s” screen is the best.
Call quality /
RF
performance
E71 often garbled our voiceto the party on the other end.
Blackberry did a much better job atdelivering us a clear and loud call.
Battery Life Has got good Battery Life. Best Battery Life
Keypad E71 is little too small to use100% comfortably.
The “Z” key NEVER goesdirectly under the “A” key.But again it sometimesworks well on the phone.
Great Keypad
With the Bold, we find ourselves banging
away emails like we’ve always done — that’s great.
This is a personal opinion here, but the BlackBerry smokes the E71 out
of the water in so many ways. The E71 is fine as a personal
communication device, but once you enter into the realm of corporateemail, or even small business, for that matter, the BlackBerryd is the
reigning king, and will stay that way for a pretty long time.
Nokia E Series Vs i Phone:

Though there have been many phones which have been positioned as iPhone killers most
of them have been spectacular failures like Blackberry Storm. That’s what happens whencompanies imitate rather than innovate and base their device on the misplaced belief that
adding a touch screen is all that is needed to compete against the iPhone.
In our survey we also found that even iPhone is a big competitor against Nokia E Series.
So we thought of doing a survey on this, which results as follows:

If you look at the table above E71 has come out on top 15 times and iPhone has managed
to do it 8 times and there are 2 ties. On the surface it looks like E71 thrashes the iPhone.
But it is NOT so. The reason is that the features in which iPhone have come out on top
are the heavily used ones; Browsing, Playing Music etc.

Early adopters in North America should note very carefully which frequencies and modes
are supported by a particular phone. For example, while the Nokia E90 supports GSM on
the North American bands of 850 and 1900, WCDMA can only operate on the European
2100 band. WCDMA operation in North America requires either WCDMA 850/1900 or
WCDMA 1700/2100. The North American 2100 band is incompatible with the European
2100 band.
Need/ Purpose of the study:
1. This project report can be further used for future references.
2. Referred for the knowledge of customers’ demand and preferences in the UAE market.
15

3. The research project can also be used to determine the likely impact of E series
handset of Nokia on overall brand establishment of Nokia.
4. It can also help the industry to analyze the reasons for customer’s satisfaction and
dissatisfaction & needs and demand of the people.
5. Comparative Analysis of Nokia E series with I Phone or Blackberry.

Research Methodology
The system of collecting data for research projects is known as research methodology.
The data may be collected for either theoretical or practical research for example
management research may be strategically conceptualized along with operational
planning methods and change management.
Some important factors in research methodology include validity of research data, Ethicsand the reliability of measures most of your work is finished by the time you finish the
analysis of your data.
Formulating of research questions along with sampling weather probable or non probable
is followed by measurement that includes surveys and scaling. This is followed by
17
8/6/2019 Project on Nokia E Series
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/project-on-nokia-e-series 18/41
research design, which may be either experimental or quasi-experimental. The last two
stages are data analysis and finally writing the research paper, which is organized
carefully into graphs and tables so that only important relevant data is shown.
Statement of the Problem:
i. Why should a person go for Nokia E Series instead of other mobiles, such as
Blackberry or I Phone?
ii. What are the Needs and Demands of the young people towards Nokia E Series?
iii. Does Nokia E Series brand collection of phone value for money?
iv. What are the features of Nokia E Series Phone?
Scope of the Study:
To study the consumer perception about Nokia E Series mobiles in the marketing
department and the systems used. And to analyze the problems faced by the people, and
also their needs and demand about Nokia E Series. To compare the Nokia E Series
Phones with others mobile phones such as Blackberry & I Phone.

Series Mobile Phone.
Tools of Data Collection:
Primary:
19
8/6/2019 Project on Nokia E Series
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/project-on-nokia-e-series 20/41
Questionnaires
Secondary sources Books & magazines
Internet
Sources of data:Mainly primary data was used in the analysis. However,
secondary data has been used for literature review, designing the
questionnaire and to develop a formal approach for the study.
• Primary data:
Primary data is the specific information collected by the person who is
doing the research. It can be obtained through clinical trials, case
studies, true experiments and randomized controlled studies. This
information can be analyzed by other experts who may decide to test
the validity of the data by repeating the same experiments.
Questionnaire Method:
• Questionnaire is a very good analysis method; it is to be
completed by people. It is a quick and efficient way to obtain
information from a large number of people.
• Relatively less expensive.
• Quick and easy to administer
• Allows respondent to answer in their own words.
20
8/6/2019 Project on Nokia E Series
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/project-on-nokia-e-series 21/41
• Secondary data:
Secondary data analysis was also conducted as it saves time that
would otherwise be spent collecting data and, particularly in the case
of quantitative data, provides larger and higher-quality databases thanwould be unfeasible for any individual researcher to collect on their
own. In addition to that, analysts of social and economic change
consider secondary data essential, since it is impossible to conduct a
new survey that can adequately capture past change and/or
developments.
Sampling Design:As our study was on young consumer perception on Nokia E Series, the
college students and young professionals were selected for the study.
The questionnaires were distributed at the college campus and the
sample size was restricted to 50. A random sampling technique was
adopted for selecting the sample.
Limitation:The cell phone industry is a large industry with large number of competitors and different
concepts. There are certain issues related to Nokia brand in view of cost and time
constraints. The main limitation of this study is that it is based on the perception and we
know that it is very difficult to make conclusion on these basis.
21
8/6/2019 Project on Nokia E Series
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/project-on-nokia-e-series 22/41
• This study is mainly based on primary data so the responses
received during survey may not be free from biases, though
effort is made to minimize these errors.
• Since the sample respondents were randomly selected only from
college campus, this might act as a limitation in generalizing the
finding of the study.
• Limited number of sample size will be a constraint to generalize
the findings. Further the sample respondents are restricted to
only few categories.
• The main limitation of this study is that it is based on the perception and we know
that it is very difficult to make conclusion on these basis.

WIFI/GPS Speed and not with the Camera & Sound Quality and many other features
which are shown in the “Finding & Suggestion” part.
E series is used normally by elite class and upper sections of the society especially the
business class. These cell phones are perfect 4 business man because it gives them
facilities to take there official contacts and documents with them anywhere, anytime they
want to in there cell phones without losing any important event.
It wasn’t easy to use, nevertheless the customers went in for buying E series because of
the looks and Easy Installation of third party Soft wares and other reasons as
well. . Through our survey, we can conclude that customers are quite satisfied by the
performance of the handset but they still want the connectivity of the mobile to improve.
Moreover, although the handsets are having some feature problems but still most of the
customers rather want to stick to Nokia instead of switching over to other companies.
Although our study was based on Young Consumer Perception Towards
Nokia E Series, and the survey was done on our college campus where
students and few staff were selected and limited no. of Questionnaire
were distributed, we still expect that our study will definitely help
managers associated with R&D of Nokia to get a insight into what
specific customers using Nokia E series expect from the company. So,
they could come out with enhanced features and work upon the
problems faced by the customers and fulfils their needs and demands.
