Division 28 Newsletter l PNW I Key Club l March Edition
Division 28 l March News l Key Club International
Greetings from Your Lieutenant Governor
Dear Division 28,
The Key Club Year is coming to an end, and it is
so hard to believe that District Convention is less
than a month away. You guys are truly
inspirational, and all of your service around the
community in the last year has touched the lives
of so many. Keep up the amazing work D28, and
remember that ever single minute you spend
serving the community is changing the world
around you in such a positive light. I am so
honored that I got to serve as your Lieutenant
Governor for the past year, and as I leave the
position I want to express how much I have
enjoyed, and loved being LTG of the best and
most spectacular Division in the Pacific
Northwest, and in all of Key Club. Remember to
always keep service in your heart, and no
matter what is going on in life, if you are serving,
you can always find love. Remember that in
hard times, you always have your Key Club
family to lean back on, and depend on.
Remember that the things you have done in Key
Club, and the people’s lives you have touched
along the way will never be forgotten.
I hope to see many of you at DCON, and
remember to always stay classy Division 28.
In Love in Service,
Lisa Antonio Division 28 Lieutenant Governor

Can MNT be stopped?
Yes! MNT is highly preventable. Just three doses of
a 60-cent immunization protect mothers, who
then pass on the immunity to their future babies.
Together, Kiwanis and UNICEF can stop this
disease.
This year’s District Project is….ELIMINATING MNT!
What is MNT?
In 30 countries around the world, maternal and
neonatal tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy
of childbirth into tragedy. MNT kills one baby
every nine minutes. Its effects are excruciating —
tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions
and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. There is
little hope of survival. And tetanus kills mothers
too.
Who suffers from MNT?
MNT is caused when tetanus spores, found in soil
everywhere, come into contact with open cuts
during childbirth. The disease strikes the poorest of
the poor, the geographically hard to reach and
those without health care.
Why hasn't MNT been eliminated
already?
UNICEF has helped to successfully eliminate MNT
in many countries. But in 30 countries in Africa,
Asia, Europe and North America, it still strikes
babies and mothers who have little or no access
to health care — either because they are poor,
live in remote areas or are caught in
humanitarian emergencies. More funds and
resources are needed to reach all babies and
mothers at risk.

What is Key Leader?
Key Leader is a weekend experiential leadership
program for today's young leaders. This life-
changing event focuses on service leadership as
the first, most meaningful leadership-development
experience. Participants begin by attending a Key
Leader conference, which is a weekend retreat.
Large and small group workshops, discussions and
team-building activities take place over the course
of the weekend. Students have opportunities to
learn leadership skills that will help them to change
their schools, communities, and world for the
better.
Personal Experience,
Going to Key Leader you learn a lot about how to
deal with people and situations that would happen
in everyday life. You see the difference between
people’s mindsets and learn how to use everyone’s
strengths in a team to your advantage, and how to
find someone’s strength. You get to meet a lot of
new, amazing people who you can connect with.
If you are thinking of running for a higher Key Club
position defiantly think about attending this once in
a life time event.

Welcome the 2014-2015 District Board
Officers!
Please welcome the new District Board! It has been such a pleasure and honor to get to know
the 2013-2014 board, and be a part of the board family. The board was full of the brightest,
nicest, and most compassionate people I have ever met. I know that the following 2014-2015
board will be nothing less than spectacular. Being a part of the board is a huge responsibility,
and I am sure that the incoming board will be amazing, and bring all of the Divisions in the
Pacific Northwest District to new heights.
If you see any of the newly elected Lieutenant Governors at DCON make sure to tell them
congratulations!
