This presentation is a case study and panel discussion on the Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility. Presentation will introduce Lean philosophy and how it was applied on the specialty hospital. Technology's role, integrated project delivery and team co-locations impact on collaboration and successful project delivery. Lean Design and Construction is a production management based approach to project delivery -- a new way to design and build capital facilities. Applied to project design and delivery, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a Lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques, and applies them in a new project delivery process.
Course Description
Learning Objectives
At the end of the this course, participants will be able to:
1.) At the end of this course, participants will be able to implement their initial Lean journey in design and construction.
2.) Participants will understand how design and construction intent is interpreted via technology (BIM). 3.) Participants will recognize Lean philosophy and approach by project team (IPD and co-location). 4.) Participants will be able to identify hands-on methods of Lean design and construction implemented by project
