The ISO steps to success
Keep it simple for the main board
Keep the main board informed of results!
The ISO 14001 steps to success
We now had the main board’s buy-in.
ISO14001 gave Morgan Lovell the ability to take a step back, look at where we were, where we needed to be and provided the structure to get there
The ISO 14001 steps to success
14001 – Environmental managementISO 14001 enabled Morgan Lovell to demonstrates to our clients transparency,
commitment and assurance regarding environmental risk management and innovations.
The ISO 14001 steps to success
The key to implementing any system, especially an environmental system, where you are
requiring people to embrace a concept and change their behaviour is to ask questions and
listen to them
The ISO 14001 steps to success
Keep things simple and do things for the
right reason.
Not just to keep the auditors happy!
Change has to deliver real &
accountable value.
Why ISO 50001?
We were already pretty good with energy but…
.…we wanted to:
1. Reduce operating costs
2. Comply with legislation
3. Walk the talk

BSI Pre-assessment visit

areas for improvement .
8 minor nonconformities were raised but the value of
this BSI visit was immeasurable
The ML EnMS team left this audit totally ‘energised’ by
the potential that our energy system could deliver!
The route to registration – Step 3
• Installation of an energy footprint tracker to monitor energy
usage 24/7
• Air conditioning of meeting rooms linked to booking times
• Light sensors throughout building
• Temperature gauges on each floor and externally
• Engagement with our suppliers and subcontractors on energy
• Switching off all office equipment when not in use
• Desking located near natural light where possible
