Why do we do redshift survey for IR selected sources?
50% of total energy is at far-IR
1) High z galaxies
2) Cold dusty galaxies
Dole et al. 2005
Wide-Field REDSHIFT Surveys
• 2DFGRS (B<19.45)• SDSS (R<17.77)• No wide-field redshift survey specifically for IR
sources• Are SDSS and 2DFGRS deeper enough for IR
sources?
R-F24 for galaxies in the Lockman Hole region(~10 deg^2)
SDSS
Redshift Survey in the SWIRE and FLS Regions
• Will measure spectra for 20000 IR-selected sources (F24>0.4 mJy) in EN1, EN2, Lockman, FLS, and XMM-LSS( ~ 30 deg^2)
• Will yield 5000 LIRGs • 400 ULIRGs at z<1.• 900 IR-selected QSO at 1<z<3• Spectra for the coming
Herschel sources
