Planetary indexing tables and pallet transfer indexing tablesSystem description
Planetary indexing tables and pallet transfer indexing tables have been especially designed for multi-side machining in rotary transfer machi-nes.They come in various designs to match a variety of workpieces and operations. Being a specialistin the field of indexing tables, FIBRO can meeteven the most demanding requirements thanks toits series production components as well asexpertise and equipment.
Planetary indexing tablesPlanetary indexing tables are used as centre units in rotary indexingmachines. They consist of two units, the indexing table carrier provi-ding transport to the individual machining stations and the planetaryunits as an additional machining axis.
Indexing table carrier unitFIBROTAKT® indexing tables with lifting (Type 11.13…) or non-liftingface gear (Type 10.36) are used as indexing table carrier units. Theface gear design ensures long term indexing and excellent rigidity ofthe table.
The lifting design is used for minor inertia and therefore with smallerindexing tables. The table is actuated by hydraulic rack and pinionor by worm and worm gear.
The non-lifting design is used for high inertia and short indexingtimes. The disturbance-free outline of the low drive housing provesespecially useful. The table is actuated by a servo motor with astraight level gear pair via a pinion shaft to a large drive gear.Hydraulic locking and unlocking of the face gear in both variants.
Planetary units:Various designs and arrangements can be selected.
Positive mechanical positioning by means of face gear.• FIBROTAKT® pneumatic or hydraulic drive
(Typ 11.11... or 11.13...) for constant indexing or pendulum motion.
• FIBROTAKT® in special design, as a flexible solution offering allpossible indexing facilities within the number of teeth (e.g. 360 1°). Below the planetary unit a stationary NC drive unit whichcan be engaged hydraulically is mounted in the stations wherethe planetary unit has to be positioned.
Flexible positioning with NC axis and friction seating• FIBROPLAN® NC-Rotary Table table with hydraulic clamping
(Type NC1/NC 2) and servo motor and rotary encoder attached tothe planetary unit. There is no restriction in the number positions.Circular milling is also possible. The drive is connected to the NCcontrol by a flexible cable guide in the centre of the indexing tablecarrier unit. Due to the cable drag chain connection the workpie-ces are moved forwards at an incremental rate and returned totheir initial position all in one step. This drive method allows theplanetary units to be positioned during actuation of the indexingtable carrier.
• FIBROPLAN® NC-Rotary Table with hydraulic clamping in specialdesign, with NC drive unit which can be engaged, mounted in themachining stations where the planetary unit has to be positioned.
Variants:• Double planetary unit - two adjacent planetary units per station.
Rotation is provided by a common drive. • Angle positioning equipment as planetary unit.• Planetary units with pallet seats.• Combined planetary units with tailstock or counter bearing.• Suspended planetary units especially designed for dry machining
processes.• Planetary units from the FIBROTOR®-range of indexing tables for
light machining.
Benefits:• Minimum indexing times allowing maximum frequency.• Replacement of complete pallet including mounted fixture
possible (quick change, planetary units with pallet seats variant).
Pallet transfer indexing tablesPallet transfer indexing tables are used in the same way as planetaryindexing tables as centre unit for rotary transfer machines. Palletswith the workpiece mounted are moved to the relevant machiningstations and below those stations indexing tables are positioned asadditional axes. The pallets are then moved to the next machiningstations by means of an electro mechanical FIBROTOR® indexingtable, where they are lowered, mechanically locked and clamped.
Benefits:• Load forces are applied directly to the base plate.• Additional indexing table axis permanently allocated to the
machining unit.• Replacement of complete pallet including mounted fixture
possible (quick change).

each are positioned at 120°, PCD 1150 mm, on a base plate.
The table tops of the three indexingtables are equipped with a pallet lockingand clamping device (see small image).
The pulling plate installed on theconveyer table holds three pallets and
moves them from one station to the next. This is realised by hydraulically lifting
the plate by 15 mm, thereby lifting the pallets out of the fixing and
avoiding torsion. The locking and clamping area is
protected against cooling lubricant andchips in the process.
