Emotions (“markers”) are grouped into general mood states.
Mood states affect perception and therefore perceived reality.
Positive mood is a dimension of mood consisting of positive expressions such as excitement , self-assurance & cheerfulnessat the high end and boredom & tiredness at the low end .
Negative Mood is a dimension consisting of nervousness , stress and anxiety at a high end and relaxation and calmness at the low end.
Rationality & emotions are in conflict with one another i.e. if we show our emotions we tend to be irrational. We must have the ability to experience emotions to be rational because our emotions provide important information about how we understand the world around us . It is also said that displaying emotions such as sadness to the extent of crying is very toxic to one's career and therefore emotions are critical to rational thinking .
Therefore we can say that….
◦Expressing emotions publicly may be damaging to social status
◦Emotions are critical to rational decision-making
◦Emotions help us understand the world around us
Emotions help to humans to solve problems
Emotions helps to motivate people in engaging them in actions that are important for survival.
Emotions whether positive or negative do serve some useful purpose.
Negative emotions such as anger also serve some purpose such as anger may sometimes help us to protect our rights when we think they are being violated.
Similarly , positive emotions also have some purpose like for example an employee who finds a customer nice & corporative may provide him better customer service.
PERSONALITY

weather .However it is suggested that weather has little effect on mood . It was also concluded that people do not report a better mood on bright and sunny days or bad moods on dark and rainy days .Illusory correlation which occurs when people associate two events but in reality there is no connection explains why people tend to think nice weather improves there mood.
