■ F.A.P. Plus™™ Pump (TR-516)
The F.A.P. Plus™ Pump consists of a flexible, special inner bladder and a flexible Buna-N® hose which forms the outer pump body. The integral controller is housed inside the stainless chamber and is factory preset for 15 cycles per minute. This provides the optimum pumping rate.
The pump operates by alternately inflating and deflating the annular space between the inner bladder and the outer hose. When compressed air is applied, the inner bladder collapses. When the air is exhausted, the inner bladder rebounds to its original shape thereby causing a suction which pulls fluid into the pump and up to the surface. The pump utilizes two check valves to maintain the suction and prevent the fluid from flowing back into the well. The pump is capable of producing a suction of 17 in of mercury for the recovery of viscous product and operation in deep wells up to 200 feet.
The F.A.P. Plus™ can operate dry or in the coiled position without damage. It may be installed at the surface in shal-low well applications.
■ Skimmer Assembly
The skimmer is attached to the bottom of the F.A.P. Plus™ pump and is used to separate the product from the water in the well. Depending on your site conditions, three types of skimmers are available: standard, high viscosity and density skimmers. The following table will help you select the proper skimmer for your site.
Viscosity 80 SSU or less Higher than 80 SSU
D from BW to PWI ≥ 24” ≥ 18” ≥ 18” 6"
Water Table Flu < 36” < 24” < 30” < 24"
Well Diameter ≥ 2” ≥ 2” 4" 2"
Part Number TR-517 TR-51711 TR-70410 TR-702
Skimmer Type Standard 36" travel
Standard 24" travel
High Viscosity Density
Tech Tip: The high water shut off can be added to the TR-517, TR-51711 and the TR-70410 to insure water is not recovered should the water table change exceed the skimmer travel.
Standard Skimmer (TR-517). The standard skimmer is used to recover gasoline, jet fuel and most diesel fuels. It combines a density float, a special hydrophobic element, a product bypass, a hollow guide rod and a coiled hose. The center guide rod allows the skimmer to travel freely in
Tech Tip: For recovery of sinkers, the DNAPL skimmer (TR-519) attaches to the bottom of the F.A.P. Plus™ Pump.

id from the bottom of the well to the water/product interface. These skimmers have a specific gravity of 0.95 and float in the water with the top inlet just above the product/water in-terface. The skimmers have an effective travel of 24 inches. The 2 in and 4 in sizes are for use in well casings with these nominal inside diameters. The 6 in and 12 in mod-els are self-supporting and may be used in large diameter wells, open excavations and open water applications. High Water Shut Off (TR-51710). This option can be used on all the rod skimmers, TR-517, TR-70410 and TR-51711. It is used when the water table changes are expected to ex-ceed the travel of the skimmer. When the skimmer reaches its upper travel limit and is submerged in water, the pneu-matic logic shuts down the pump and will restart the pump
response to the water table changes. The skimmer is de-signed to float with the inlet positioned at the water/product interface automatically providing 36” of skimmer travel. The density float is used to position the special hydrophobic ele-ment — the skimmer inlet — at the product water interface. The hydrophobic element uses a special micron pore size that is based on surface tension, allowing only product to pass. A larger pore size is available for use with higher vis-cosity products such as weathered diesel. Pumping rates through the hydrophobic element will be approximately 100 gallons per day.
Tech Tip: The larger micron-sized elements may allow a small percentage of water to pass.
The bypass element is attached to the top of the hydropho-bic element and allows the product to enter the skimmer directly when the product layer is greater than 2 inches. Re-covery rates through the bypass element are approximately 300 gallons per day.
The complete skimmer element is connected to the bottom of the guide rod by a coiled polyurethane hose. This coiled hose can accommodate water level changes of up to 36 in automatically maintaining the skimmer intake at the wa-ter/product interface. A minimum distance of 24 in from the bottom of the well to the water/product interface is required when using the TR-517. The TR-51711 requires a minimum of 18 in and provides 24 in of travel. The skimmer can also be configured as a passive device by attaching a quick connect canister on the bottom of the skimmer, providing greater flexibility for free product recov-ery projects. (see Passive Skimmer on page 9).
Maintenance: Biofouling may occur because the hydro-phobic element is positioned at the air/product interface. If fouling occurs, the element can be cleaned using a soft brush or replaced by unthreading the bypass element and installing a new hydrophobic element.
High Viscosity Skimmer (TR-70410). This skimmer is used when the product has a viscosity higher than 80 SSU, such as oils. The 4 in high viscosity skimmer uses the same design as the TR-517, less the hydrophobic and bypass elements. The skimmer has a 30 in travel and a specific gravity of 0.95, allowing it to float at the water/ product interface. The product collects on the top of the skimmer inlet and, from there, is pumped to the surface. In normal applications the skimmer will remove product down to a ¼ in to ½ in product layer. The skimmer can be adjusted in the field to remove the product even further and attain a thinner layer.
Density Skimmers (TR-704, TR-706, TR-712). Density skimmers are used when there is less than 18 inches of flu-

when the skimmer returns to its normal operating position.
Tech Tip: It is important to ensure that water table level changes do not exceed the travel of the skimmer, or water could be collected. The High Water Shut Off, TR-51710, should be con-sidered in these applications. When installing the system, it is also important to account for the rise in the water table due to removal of floating prod-uct. Water tables can rebound over 20% when product is removed.
■ Well Clincher
The Well Clincher has expandable, pass-through fittings for the air supply and fluid discharge hose, allowing the pump to be easily adjusted. The Well Clincher seals the well from debris and is available for wells with diameters from 2 to 8 in.
■ Filter/Regulator
The regulator allows the pump operating pressure to be set ac-cording to the depth of the pump. A minimum of 60 psi is required to operate the F.A.P. Plus™ pump properly. The filter regulator is included with each F.A.P. Plus™ pump.
■ Pneumatic Overfill Protection Device
This device is installed on the recovery tank or drum to prevent overfilling the product storage vessel. The overfill de-vice is installed on the storage vessel and will thread into a standard 2 in bung. The main air is supplied to the inlet side of the overfill device and the outlet air supply to the F.A.P. Plus™ pump. The overfill device senses a pressure differential when the storage vessel is nearly full and shuts off the air supply to the F.A.P. Plus™ pump. The standard overfill device can be used with three F.A.P. Plus™ pumps. The TR-75711 is used with more than three F.A.P. Plus™ pumps.
Electro-Pneumatic Overfill Protection Device
This device uses an intrinsically safe float sensor to shut off the air supply to the F.A.P. Plus™ pump. It includes a programmable 24 hour timer to allow on/off time settings in 15 minute increments. A 115 V power supply is required.
■ Air Compressors and Membrane Dryer
An electric, non-explosion-proof 2.5 hp, indoor-use air compressor producing 4.2 scfm is supplied with the stan-dard F.A.P. Plus™ Pump System (TR-515). This compres-sor can be used with up to three F.A.P. Plus™ systems. A 5 hp compressor is available for use with more than three systems. If other air sources are used, they should include a 5 micron coalescing air filter. In freezing or high humidity conditions, an air dryer is required to avoid system dam-age. The Membrane Dryer (TR-749) is a good choice for use with the F.A.P.™ System. The F.A.P. Plus™ pump requires relatively dry air for optimum performance. Refer to line sizing chart on page 33.
■ Hoses
The standard hose size from the outlet side of the filter regulator to the F.A.P. Plus™ pump is a ¼” Push-Lok™ fitting and a 3/8 in barb fitting on the air inlet side. The standard F.A.P. Plus™ fluid discharge line has a 3/8 in barb fitting. The hose sizes may have to be increased depending on the distance between the system components.
How do I select the most appropriate skimming system? The most important elements in choosing the F.A.P. Plus™ system will be your water table fluctuations, prod-uct viscosity, type of product, well diameter and amount of product present. You can find the complete design data sheet on our web site to define all of your site conditions.
Tech Tip: The F.A.P. Plus™ requires a minimum of 60 psi for optimal performance

ESS Electrical Skimmer System Electric skimming system for product recovery.
Application❖ LNAPL Recovery.❖ DNAPL Recovery.❖ 4 inch or larger wells.
Tech Tip: For 2 in wells, the pump can be mounted at the well head.
Description
■ Explosion proof Skimmer Pump ■ Nema 4 Control Panel ■ Skimmer
■ Electric Skimmer Pump (TR-104). The ESS skimmer pump is a linear dual solenoid reciprocating piston pump that uses an internal piston and dual check valves to create suction transferring the product from the skimmer to the surface. The pump is equipped with a standard 100-foot power cable with NEMA 6P rated connections. The pump has a maximum depth capacity of 90 feet and can pro-duce flow rates up to 150 gal/day. The discharge hose connection is a 3/8 in barb fitting. The pump itself is rated explosion proof and must be installed to Class 1 Division 1 electrical codes to maintain this rating.
■ Skimming Pump Controller (TR-105 Series). It is used to control the run times for one to three skimmer pumps. The controller has three independent 24-hour timers with options for: Manual Pump Off, Manual Pump On, Auto Off cycle timer and Auto On cycle timer. To simplify operations, the pump run time is set based on the recovery rate of each well. When used in the auto cycle mode, the pump timer must be set allowing a 50% off time compared to the on or run time to maintain optimum pump life. The controller is housed in a NEMA-4 enclosure and is not rated explosion proof; therefore, it must be located outside the explosion rated area. The controller includes the tank overfill device and will operate on 110 V, 60 Hz or 230 V, 60/50 Hz.
■ Standard Skimmer (TR-517). The standard hydrophobic skimmer attaches directly to the bottom of the pump via a quick connect fitting and provides 36 inches of automatic skimmer travel. The pump uses the same skimmer as the F.A.P. Plus™ system. The standard TR-517 skimmer is used for product with SSU values smaller than 80 . For values greater than 80 SSU, the TR-70410 must be used.

SoakEase™ DURHAM GEO SLOPE INDICATOR
SoakEase™ Absorbent material for immediate response or minimal product.
Application❖ Passive LNAPL Recovery.
Description
■ 36 in Canister ■ Absorbent Socks for 1, 2 and 4 in Canisters
SoakEase™ is a product-selective absorbent sock housed inside a stainless steel canister. It is used as a passive collection system for free phase product such as jet fuel, gasoline or diesel fuel from 1.25 in and larger recovery wells, monitoring wells and recovery trenches.
The SoakEase™ can be used as a bailer for periodic product removal or as a dedicated system for a more continuous method of recovery. Prior to dedicating the SoakEase™, it is recommended that excess free product be removed by bailing with the SoakEase™.
To use SoakEase™ as a bailer, an absorbent sock is placed in the stainless steel canister; a cord is attached to the support loop and then lowered through the product layer. The full length of the sock should come into con-tact with the product for greater recovery. Immediately, the SoakEase™ will begin absorbing product at a rate of approximately 0.1 gallon per second, depending on the product viscosity. After some time, the SoakEase™ should be raised from the well; the sock removed from the canister and disposed of in accordance with regulations.
To use the SoakEase™ as a dedicated system, deter-mine the amount of product present and the water table fl uctuation using the PWI interface meter (TR-921). When these have been determined, the SoakEase™ may be installed to accommodate level changes up to 36 in.
Tech Tip: The product absorption rate is de-termined by the viscosity of the product and can vary depending on site conditions. The SoakEase™ is designed to be used with hydro-carbon-based products. The user must determine the necessary replacement schedule by gauging site conditions. The socks can be squeezed out and reused. Approximately 80% of the original absorption can be recovered.

MVP IV Pump
Description
The MVP IV pump kit includes: ■ MVP IV Pump ■ Well Clincher (well cap) ■ Air Particulate Filter Regulator
■ The MVP IV Pump uses an internal float that responds to the fluid level within the pump body to cycle the pump automatically, based on the recharge of the well. As the pump fills with fluid, the float moves to the upper position, activating the mechanical arm which opens the air inlet valve. This allows air to enter the pump chamber, simulta-neously pressurizing the vessel and closing the upper and lower inlet check valves. As a result, the fluid moves to the surface. As the fluid is emptied from the vessel, the float returns to the lower limit — off position — closing the air inlet and opening the air exhaust valve. During the filling cycle, air is vented through the exhaust port and the cycle is automatically repeated. The thread together design provides complete access to all the internal components. This makes it possible to change pump loading configura-tions easily. The pump head can be easily removed should access to the air inlet and exhaust valves be needed.
Positive Valve ShiftingThe air inlet and air exhaust valves are incorporated on the same side of the pump to impart a mechanical advantage which makes the valve shift fully and reliably. This lever-age is seven times greater than would be available if the valves were located on opposite sides of the pump head.

SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS
The new free-float-ing actuating arm ensures a positive air valve shift. The design permits the use of larger and simpler air exhaust valves to eliminate air quality and stalling concerns. The poppet design valves provide a larger surface area improving air efficien-cies. Every MVP IV pump includes the override feature allowing the pump and discharge line to be emptied from the surface reducing the pump’s weight during its removal. An additional ¼ in air line is required.
Tech Tip: Maintenance of the MVP IV pump will vary based on site conditions. For sites with high mineral concentrations, it may be necessary to remove the pumps periodically to clean the min-eral deposits.
The MVP IV features an all-stainless steel linkage system with Teflon® bushings with a synthetic glass resin float to insure reliability and chemical compatibility. Stainless steel floats are optional. For added durability, all MVP IV pumps have a stainless steel body. The MVP IV pump uses clampless barb fittings for the 3/4 in discharge and 3/8 in air exhaust lines. The air supply uses a 1/4 in PushLok® fitting. Quick connect fittings (TR-80910) are available as an op-tion.
Tech Tip: In deeper applications, the size of the air exhaust and fluid discharge lines may be increased to reduce friction loss and increase flow rates.
Flow rates range from 8 gpm on top-loading pumps to 13 gpm on standard pumps. Pump flow rates will be affect-ed by the amount of head above the pump. Should lower flow rates be required, the flow control valve TR-698 can be installed on the exhaust line of the MVP IV pump. This will allow the user to restrict the air exhaust which regulates the fill time of the pump. It is important to properly size the air supply and discharge lines to accommodate for friction loss. Refer to line sizing tables on pages 33 and 34.

Loading Configurations
Top loading pumps are selected for pumping total fluids (LNAPL and ground water simultaneously). The top loading pumps will produce flow rates of up to 8 gpm — depend-ing on the head above the pump. Water table draw-down will be maintained at a level corresponding to the top inlet of the pump. Shorter length pumps are available for lower drawdown require-ments.
Tech Tip: A skim-mer attachment (TR-810) can be threaded onto the top inlet of the pump allowing the pump to collect product only.
Bottom loading pumps are selected for dis-solved phase, DNAPL or leachate applications. When installing the pump, the head is positioned at the depth of the desired water table depression. During start-up, the pump fills from both the top and bottom inlet ports. As the water table de-pression zone stabilizes, the pump will fill from the bottom only. The bottom loading pump can be configured with a closed top to reduce the possibility of debris entering through the inlet. This may be particularly useful in leachate applications or applications where floating debris is present.
View animated graphics on our web site. They show how the pumps function. There are links on the pumps' page.
Tech Tip: Minimum submergence can be re-duced on the bottom loading pump by install-ing the stop collar on the float actuating rod (TR-7714). This will reduce the float travel and open the air valve with less fluid in the pump. The top loading pump submergence can be reduced with a short pump.
■ The Well Clincher serves as a well seal and pump support. It simplifies hose connec-tion. A retractable handle provides for easy instal-lation or removal of the pump system. The 90 degree fittings on the top of the Clincher reduce the possibility of kinked hoses in the well vault. Expandable Well Clinch-ers with pass-through ports are available for installations requiring frequent pump adjust-ments.
■ The Particulate Filter/Regulator should be installed at the well head to supply the proper air pressure to the MVP IV Pump. This will optimize air consumption. A good guideline for setting the air pressure is 0.5 psi per foot of pump depth.
Tech Tip: Air consumption of the MVP IV pump is based on the depth and PSI setting. For a simple calculation use 1 cfm per gallon pumped. This is the maximum the pump will consume.
Accessories:
The Pulse Counter is used to determine the flow rate of the MVP IV Pump. The newly designed counter is compact and is installed in the air supply line at the well head. As the pump cycles, the counter senses the drop in air pressure indicat-ing the pump has cycled. The number of cycles is mul-tiplied by the volume of the specific pump you are using to provide the flow rate. The counter is not resetting.
The standard hose assembly (TR-777) consists of a 3/4 in Buna-N® discharge line, a 1/4 in Nylon® air supply line and a 3/8 in Buna-N® air exhaust line. The Buna-N® hose provides a flexible, chemically compatible discharge line. The main air supply and fluid discharge hoses should be properly sized to minimize head loss due to line friction.

Description
The 2 in Evacuator™ II Pump System includes: ■ 2 in. Evacuator™ II Pump ■ Well Clincher for use in vacuum operation ■ 5 micron Coalescing Air Filter/Regulator with auto- drain
■ The Evacuator™ II Pump uses down-well internal logic combined with a small diameter float to automatically cycle the pump, eliminating the need for additional controls at the surface. For the 2 in diameter pumps, this logic technol-ogy allows the pump to use a much smaller float and fewer components than those using a mechanical type of design. Hence, this pump, with just a 33 in length will produce flow rates up to 4 gpm in the bottom loading configuration. As the pump fills with fluid, the float moves to the upper position activating the pneumatic logic. This opens the air valve located in the well clincher allowing air to pressur-ize the chamber, closing the check valve and pushing the fluid to the surface. When the fluid is evacuated, the float falls to the lower position where it activates the lower logic opening the air exhaust port. As the pump fills with fluid under static pressure, the air is exhausted and the cycle is repeated until the water table reaches the desired draw-down.
The Evacuator II is constructed from stainless steel with a Nitrophyl float and Viton® seals providing chemical resis-tance for most applications. Complete access to all internal components is provided with the three-piece thread-to-gether construction. Maintenance will vary based on the site conditions. Conditions with high mineral concentrations may require routine cleaning. The Evacuator II style pump requires good air quality and an air drier is recommended. It is important to ensure that all air lines are purged to remove debris prior to start-up.

Air Consumption
The Evacuator II Pump exhausts the air back to the surface after each cycle using the same air supply/exhaust line. Therefore the greater the depth, the higher the air con-sumption of the pump will be. The Evacuator II Pump will use approximately 1 cfm of air per gallon pumped at depths of up to 50 ft. To determine the air consumption, use the following guilelines: 40 psi 0.8 scfm 80 psi 1.7 scfm60 psi 1.2 scfm 100 psi 2.1 scfm
Tech Tip: To reduce air consumption the air logic valve can be installed in the down well hose assembly above the water table. This is especial-ly beneficial for deep application preventing the air from being exhausted back to the well head. Please consult Durham Geo Slope Indicator for ordering information.

❖ Flow rates up to 75 gpm❖ Depths up to 400 feet.
Description
The SEP IV Pump System consists of: ■ Stainless steel pump ■ Electric motor ■ Motor lead
The SEP IV is a continuous-duty electric submersible pump designed for the withdrawal of contaminated groundwa-ter or leachate in environmental applications. The pumps require a control mechanism such as the Septek to maintain the desired draw-down level.
■ Stainless Steel Pump
The SEP IV pump ends are constructed of 304 stainless steel to provide chemi-cal compatibility for typical environmen-tal installations. Standard pump ends are supplied with durable PBT (polybu-tylene terephtalate) seals for chemical resistance in most cases. PBT seals are not recommended for use with chlorinat-ed solvants in which case Teflon® seals are recommended. PBT seals generally provide better wear resistance than Tef-lon®. DGSI Teflon® seal kits are available for all SEP IV pump ends. Note: Teflon® seals will reduce flow rates by 10%.The SEP IV standard pump ends are available in eighteen standard models,

Left: Bearings with sand channels. All PBT standard bearings are water-lubricated and have a square shape enabling sand particles, if any, to be flushed out of the pump together with the pumped fluid.

(bottom half). The motor leads are not shown.
producing flow rates up to 75 gpm and to depths up to 400 feet. Other pump ends are available. The SEP IV Pump System consist of three components: the pump end, the pump motor and the motor lead. Selecting the most efficient system for your site requires the following information:
• total head• desired flow rate• well depth• well diameter• chemical compatibility requirements
Use the pump curves to match your flow rate and total head to select the pump end that best meets your requirements. The curve will indicate the motor horsepower required. Se-lect the motor leads for your well depth.
PUMP END SPECIFICATIONSRotational Speed 3450 rpm
Max. Quantity of Sand 0.25 lb/100 ft³ (40 g/m³)
Min. Recomm. Level of Suction 3.28 ft (1 m)
Maximum Liquid Temperature 86°F (30°C)
Maximum Starts per Hour 15 to 20
■ Electric Motor All motors are manufactured by Franklin Electric and are available from 0.5 to 7.5 hp. The motors are available in single phase 230 V, three phase 230 V or three phase 460 V. The three phase motors are used when the pump speed will be variable. Other motors are available upon request.
Single Phase three-wire pump motors require the use of a control box containing a starting capacitor and relay. The three-wire motors provide a soft start and may offer better service life in deep well or in conditions where the motor requires higher torque to start. The two-wire motors use an internal bi-metal switch to start the motor.
■ Motor Lead
Motor leads are supplied separate from the pump end and motor assemblies. DGSI manufactures standard PVC leads in continuous lengths with no splices and individually insu-lated. The motor lead assembly can be supplied in Tefzel®, a material that combines superior mechanical toughness with an outstanding chemical inertness.
It is important to confirm chemical compatibility before choosing your motor lead type.
Motor leads are 12-gauge wire with either two- or three-wire leads plus the ground.

Fluid Level Control SystemsIncrease pump life by reducing the number of motor starts and stops
Application and benefits❖ Maintain a precise drawdown level in a well for
extended periods.
SEPTEK™ Precise drawdown without above-grade con-trollers
The SepTek is a mechanical down-well device used with electrical pumps to maintain a desired water table draw-down for extended periods.Installation is easy. Simply place the SepTek in line above the SEP IV or other electric pump exactly where the de-sired water level is to be maintained and walk away! The SeptTek/SEP IV Combo will do the rest. No need for cycling submersible motors on and off. No expensive relays, no VFD’S, no throttling valves. It’s simple and maintenance is low. When the pump is activated, the internal float will respond by directing the liquid to the surface or recirculating it in the well to match the fluid output to the recharge rate of the well which maintains the desired level. The pump will operate continuously, increasing the motor life. The SepTek system provides for full fluid discharge with no head loss or restrictions. It is constructed of a PVC body, brass bypass valve, cast bronze and stainless steel linkage.

■ Three-phase PumpSavers
Three-phase PumpSavers combine a voltage relay, an underpower relay and an electronic overload relay into one device to provide optimal protection. The underload trip is based on power which is desirable when the current vs. load characteristic in non-linear or has little change—which is the case with these relatively small motors.
PumpSaver®Submersible pump protector
PumpSavers are optional pump monitors designed to protect single- or three-phase submersible electric pumps from dry wells, dead head, jammed impellers, rapid cycling, over/under voltage, and, depending on the model, other conditions. They protect 2- or 3-wire pumps from 1/3 hp to 3 hp.
■ Single-phase PumpSavers
Single-phase PumpSavers measure the power factor, volt-age and current. These measurements are collected and analyzed by a microcontroller which, under precise condi-tions, trips a built-in relay to shut off the pump motor to prevent damage.
A calibration adjustment allows models TR-2601 and TR-2602 to be calibrated to specific pumping applications, thereby reducing the possibility of false or nuisance trip-ping. When an abnormality (such as would occur in a loss of suction) in power fluctuations, overcurrent, or undercur-rent is detected, The PumpSaver deactivates its output re-lay and directly disconnects the pump motor. The unit then begins its user-selectable re-start delay (dry-well recovery) timer. When the timer counts to zero or power is removed and reapplied, the PumpSaver reactivates its output relay and turns the pump back on. An infrared LED can commu-nicated directly with the Informer (sold separately).
The Informer is an optional diagnostic tool for use with TR-2601 and TR-2602. This hand-held device reads val-ues from the LED on the PumpSaver and displays 15 pa-rameters including real-time voltage, current, and power; dry-well and overload trip points; calibration voltage; volt-age, current, power at last fault; highest/lowest voltage and current since last calibration; model number.Note: The use of restrictors or unusually high head pressures at the time of calibration may interfere with the detection of dead head conditions.

■ Motor Monitoring Device
The Remote Motor-Monitoring Device improves safety for service and operations personnel by allowing them to con-trol and monitor the PumpSaver (TR-2603, TR-2604, and TR-2604 only) without opening the control panel. It requires a Communication Module on each PumpSaver to enable the Modbus communications function. One Remote Motor-Monitoring Device can monitor up to 16 PumpSavers
In addition to monitoring functions, the Motor-Monitoring Device can reset a tripped PumpSaver.
The enclosure is NEMA 3R outdoor rated and is easily mounted on the front of a panel. One device can control up to 16 PumpSaver units through an RS-485 network using Modbus TRU protocol. A second communication port allows monitoring and control from a computer, PLC, or SCADA system.
The Motor-Monitoring Device displays:• Individual line currents and average current• Current unbalance• Individual phase voltages and average voltage• Voltage unbalance• Present fault trip reason and restart timer status• Last four faults• PumpSaver setpoints• Run-hours on each motor• Warning of pending (imminent) faults
The Motor-Monitoring Device controls:• Reset run-hour metre• Reset PumpSaver• Clear last fault in PumpSaver• Change set point for the Motor-Monitoring Device

SOLAR-POWERED REMEDIATION
26
SolarNAPLDURHAM GEO SLOPE INDICATOR
SolarRem™ is a registered trademark of the SolarRem Corporation
SolarRem™ Solar-Powered Remediation System
ApplicationThe SolarRem system can be configured for the fol-lowing applications:❖ LNAPL recovery❖ DNAPL recovery
❖ Gas condensate recovery
❖ Groundwater pumping❖ Air sparging
Description ■ NEMA 4 control panel with PLC ■ 7.5 gallon receiver tank ■ One 100 W solar panel ■ 105 Ah AGM battery ■ Tank full shut-off SolarRem™ is a patented solar-powered air compressor which can be configured to run various pneumatic pumps or used for air sparging. These pump as-semblies are optional. Because it uses the sun’s energy — a renewable resource — as the only power source necessary to operate recovery pumps, the SolarRem™ system is particu-larly friendly to the environment.
Installation Advantage
SolarRem™ systems are pre-designed, compact, easy to install and operate. They can be installed and operated at remote sites quickly without the need for an exter-nal power source. This minimizes construction costs and saves time and coordination efforts while avoiding costly delays. These advantages are particularly meaningful dur-ing installation on tank farms where costly trenching and the process of identifying underground lines are avoided.
SolarNAPL System (TR-51600)
The SolarNAPL System is configured to provide an air source to power the optional F.A.P. Plus™ pump skimming system for product recovery. The system uses a solar panel to charge the special AGM deep cycle battery specially de-signed for use in solar applications. The battery powers the internal DC compressor. The control panel includes a PLC allowing the operator to set system On/Off times consistent with the air requirements of the pump. The On/Off times are user defined and based on the amount of product to re-cover, the well’s recovery rate, and the F.A.P. Plus’ pumping rate of approximately 0.18 gpm.
The standard SolarNAPL will recover between 15 to 25 gal-lons of product per day depending on its location. Systems are designed based on hours of sunlight. Additional solar panels and batteries may be required to achieve optimum performance for your specific site. Contact Durham Geo Slope Indicator for recommendations on solar panels and battery ampere-hour capabilities for your site.
Tech Tip: The SolarNAPL control panel is not rated for use in XP areas. For application such as inside tank farm berms, the units can be pole mounted above the XP area.
The standard SolarNAPL System includes the NEMA 4 control panel, a 7.5 gallon air receiver tank, one 100 W solar panel, a 105 A•h Advanced Glass Matte (AGM) battery and the Tank Full shut-off. The Tank Full shut-off turns the air supply to the pumping system off when the prod-uct tank is full. The F.A.P. Plus™ Pump (TR-516), skimmer (TR-517), solar panel mounting pole (TR-51613) and the bracket (TR-51615) must be purchased separately.
Tech Tip: The SolarNAPL System can be configured to operate multiple F.A.P. Plus™ Skimming Pumps and can be trailer mounted for greater on-site mobility.

pump. The annular space is pressurized using the control-ler and the liquid is gently lifted to surface. All pumps can be supplied contaminant free.
Tech Tip: In portable applications, the pump is easily decontaminated by submersing it in a clean-ing solution such as Alconox®. Then the pump is cycled to circulate the solution through the internal components. This method avoids the need to
replace bladders after each use. Dedicated assemblies can be supplied to reduce cross contamination, well dis-turbance and facilitate installation. The pump, tubing and well cap assemblies are plastic bagged and each assembly is identified with your well ID number and the well depth.

The pneumatic Mini Bladder Pumps are designed to obtain a representative ground water sample with the assistance of a controller to provide variable flow rates. The controller allows the user to match the pumping rate to the well recharge rate, limiting the stress on the formation. With the small volume per cycle, the fluid velocity at the pump inlet is substantially reduced, making the pumps ideal for low flow sampling. The high efficiency design enables pump rates from 5 mL to nearly 2 L/min when used with one of our Precision Dual Range Controllers. The 1.66 in diameter pump will produce flow rates up to 2 gpm.
Tech Tip: The amount of pump submergence will affect the pump flow rate. Pump curves were de-veloped with 10 ft submergence.
The bottom inlet of the pump is positioned at the desired sampling point, generally at the mid sec-tion of the well screen. The inner Teflon® bladder will fill with fluid based on the submergence of the

Precision Dual Range Controllers
Precision Dual Range Controllers allow precise control of the cycle time and the air pressure sup-plied to the bladder pump. This degree of control makes it easy to obtain a repeatable sample. Two independent air pressure regulators with gauges are provided to allow pre-cise control of the applied
pressure in ranges of 2-50 psig and 5-100 psig. The encapsu-lated timer module provides accurate, independent timing of the pressure and exhaust cycles from 0.1 to 10 seconds. The standard controller has no compressor and requires an external air source. Alternatively and for convenience, we offer a compressor/controller with a built-in, DC powered compres-sor. This unit is designed for use in wells with depths of 50 ft or less. An external air source can be used for deeper applica-tions.Both Controllers are powered by an internal lead acid gel cell battery. The standard controller (without compressor) will oper-ate continuously for approximately 2-3 days. The controller with built-in compressor will operate continuously for approximately 1½ hours on a fully charged battery. The use of an external 12 V marine battery is recommended for longer operating peri-ods. Includes 110 V (ac) charger and 12 V auto adapter.

Sample Plus™ DC Pump Systems
Application
❖ Low-flow purging and ground water sampling❖ 2 in and larger-diameter schedule 40 wells
Description
■ Variable speed electrical submersible pump ■ DC up to 125 ft depths ■ AC for 250 ft depths ■ Stainless steel and Teflon® construction ■ Tefzel® round motor cable
The Sample Plus™ Pumps are used with a power inverter (which must be purchased separately) to provide variable flow rates from 5 mL up to 5 gpm. The inverter is shown above with an additional Six-Stage pump. The pump produces a laminar flow making it ideal for low flow sampling. The six stage pump can be powered by a battery or 115 V AC power. The single stage AC pump uses 115 V and requires a 1200 W (minimum) generator. The Sample Plus Pump is constructed of chemi-cally inert stainless steel and virgin Teflon®. It is specifically designed for use in wells relatively free of silts and sands and should not be used for well development. Pump main-tenance is simple. The Sample Plus™ is designed for the replacement of individual components rather then purchas-ing a complete new pump. The inverter’s digital display of the speed makes it easier to produce repeatable flow rates.
Tech Tip: For decontamination, the pump end can be unthreaded to access the impeller system or Alconox can be circulated through the pump.
