Identify operational objectives within own area of responsibility: Relationship between strategic plans and operational plans, compatibility of plans, identification of informal personal goals (e.g. promotion, status, wages, social satisfaction), compatibility of organisational/personal goals, different types of organisational goals (consumer goals, product goals, operational goals, secondary goals).
Analyse objectives of own area of responsibility in relation to those of own organisation: Your team/section/departments contribution to achievement of organisational strategic goals, knowledge of own objectives, key performance indicators (KPI), review of performance against KPI’s, appraisal review.
Outcome 2: Be able to implement operational plans in own area of responsibility
Assess risks associated with operational plans and include contingency arrangements: Identify risks, SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats), PESTLE analysis (political, environmental, social, technological, legal, environmental), operational/developmental/action plans.
Identify support from relevant stakeholders: Stakeholders (employees, providers of finance, consumers, community and environment, government, other organisations/groups), actual and potential internal/external stakeholders and how their objectives relate to their own needs and expectations of stakeholders, consultation skills, negotiation skills.
Implement operational plan within own area of responsibility: Action planning, SMART targets (Specific, Measurable,
Achievable, Realistic and Time-Based), principles and methods of delegation, systematic reviews.

Monitor procedures within the operational plan: Use feedback from a range of suitable sources (e.g. employer, employees, and stakeholders), schedule of review, performance reviews, appraisal reviews, evaluation theory (e.g. Kirkpatrick, Brookfield’s critical lenses).
Evaluate operational plans and implement any necessary actions: Evaluation theory (e.g. Kirkpatrick, Brookfield’s critical lenses), action planning, SMART targets, alteration of goals, change management, procedures for reporting and making recommendations, consultation skills, negotiation skills, appraisal review.
