HelloEveryone-AsItypethisletter,Ihavetokeepremindingmyselfthattodayisactuallythe1stofNovember–itjustdoesn’tseempossiblethatHalloweenisoverandweareheadingfeet-firstintotheholidayseason!Planning is underway for our upcoming Thanksgiving feast at our NovemberGeneralMeetingonFriday the17th,organizedbyall thecurrentboardmembers.Wewill alsobevoting for thoseboardpositions thatareopeningup for2018. Ifyouareinterestedinrunningforaboardposition,orhavesomeonethatyouwouldliketonominate,pleasecontactLindaCarcionewhoisheadingupourNominationsCommittee. Being on the SCCHA board is a fun and fulfilling way to show yourdedicationtotheclub,andIencourageanyonewhoisinterestedtoreachoutanddiscussthisopportunity.
ThemonthofOctobergaveustheopportunitytohaveMichaelRaynorhosthisExtremeCowboyObstacleClinic,where we had 26 people who attended with their horses. This was a fabulous clinic, with lots of greatinformation, instructionandobstaclesprovidedbyMike. Hehasoffered to comeagainnextyearandwewillgladlytakehimuponthisgraciousoffer!Additionally,atourlastGeneralMeeting,themembershipdidstronglyshowtheirsupportinvotingfortheclubtopurchaseanewtractor! Arrangementsarecurrentlyunderwaytomakethis transactionandIcouldnotbemore excited – thank you to everyonewhomade the extra effort to come out & show your support for thisimportantvote.Asthefinaltwomonthsoftheyearmarchforward,pleasemarkyourcalendarswiththefollowingdatesandtrytojoinusforallthefuneventsbelow:

Therewasaquestionconcerningournon-profitstatusandansweredthattheBoardhasreviewedtheissuewithPatMcAndrews,whoisworkingwithanattorneytostarttheprocessofapplicationfornon-profit501(c)3status.JUNIORShavebeensellingSCCHAlogohatsandhavesoldenoughtobreakeven.TherearemoreforsaleandtheprofitsgotoourJuniors.OBSTACLECHALLENGECLINICwasasuccesswith26riders.MikeRaynorwasagreatteacher,andstayedthefulldaytohelpridersandtheirhorses.ThankyoutoTorafordraggingthearenatopreparethegroundforthisevent.UPCOMINGEVENTSincludetheMountedShootershereonSunday,allarewelcometocome.AndSaturdayisaBingoBashfundraiseratourhallforLelandHighSchool,andallarewelcome.TRACTORUPDATE:KarenannouncedthatourDirectorshadreviewedseveraltractors,bothnewandused,forpurchasebySCCHA,andagreedupontheJohnDeere2032Rwithattachingmower,frontbucketandArena-vator.Weneedareliabletractor/mowertomaintainourgroundsandarena.Ouroldtractoris50yearsoldandbreaksdown,partsarehardtofind.Weneedtobeselfsufficientandabletogroomourarenaregularlyaswerentourarenatoridingclubsandshows.Wehadcomparednewvs.used.Thenewonesoffer0%financing,nodownpayment,freedeliveryandfreeinstruction.Costisabout$27,000andpaymentswouldbeabout$475permonth.OurCPAsaidwecanwriteofftheentireamountforourtaxes.Purchasingausedtractorrequiresavolunteertofindone,traveltoseethetractor,arrangetotransportit,nofinancing,andhavetopayinfull.Thecosttoinsureanewtractorisabout$96/year.Karenthenreviewedtheprocessbywhichthemembershipwouldvoteonthispurchase.TheBoardhadmadeamotionattherecentBoardMeeting,andallinfavor,ofputtingthistractorpurchasetothemembershipforavote,asnotedintheOctoberBoardMeetingMinutes.Themembershiphadbeennotifiedinadvancethatthis
