Laughter Yoga is a new idea – simple and profound - an exercise routine which alleviates stress, stimulates energy throughout the body and creates a sense of peace and wellbeing.
Based on the principle that laughter is a physical action and is not dependent on jokes or comedy.
Laughter Yoga practices are easily learned and are suitable for all ages and physical capacities.
This two day certification course is designed to provide a solid foundation for anyone interested in learning Laughter Yoga either for personal or professional purposes.
Certification is provided by the ‘Dr. Kataria School of Laughter Yoga’ and is of lifetime duration with no requirements for renewal.
Originating in India in 1995, the medical physician Dr. Madan Kataria began developing a system of exercises incorporating aspects of movement, yogic breathing and play with the intention of facilitating more effective recovery for patients in his clinic. Initial experiments with groups in his neighborhood park proved so successful that the idea quickly spread, leading to the formation of ‘Laughter Clubs’ across a large area of the country, becoming known as ‘the Laughing Clubs of India’.
Laughter Yoga (sanskrit - hasya yoga) has expanded internationally with applications in a range of fields: medical, social, business, personal development and health education.
Laughter Yoga in Ontario is now widely recognised as a practical method for increasing levels of health and wellness for participants and practitioners.
The two day process of training in Laughter Yoga provides certification at the level of ‘Laughter Yoga Leader’ (CLYL).This is the training that provides all of the foundational concepts and practices that have been developed for leading a group through the process of a ‘laughter session’. The laughter session is easily modified to accommodate various levels of capability, and context.
A further five day training results in certification at the level of ‘Laughter Yoga Teacher’ (CLYT). All laughter yoga teachers have trained with either Dr. Kataria or a ‘master trainer’ selected by Dr. Kataria.
Only laughter yoga teachers are authorised by Dr. Kataria for provision of certification at the level of Laughter Yoga Leader with ‘Dr. Kataria School of Laughter Yoga’.

The two day Laughter Leader certification course is the foundational basis for developing a fulfilling Laughter Yoga practice. This is the training on how to lead a laughter session for social clubs, businesses, seniors, school children and people with special needs. Suitable for personal or professional purposes. Available to anyone who has a desire to lead a life enriched with laughter.
What you will learn in Certified Laughter Leader Training: You will acquire the basic facilitation skills of how to lead a group of people through laughter session and meditation. You will also learn the history,concept, philosophy and different steps of introducing laughter and meditation in the context of Laughter Yoga.

Duncan CookA:er completion of basic Laughter Leader Training in 2005 with Dr. Madan Kataria in Toronto, Duncan began facilitating Laughter Sessions in Guelph, Ontario. A core group of participants gather frequently to enjoy the benefits that come with unconditional laughter.
In April of 2006, Duncan enrolled in another leader training with Dr. Kataria, going on to enter a five day intensive, receiving certification as Laughter Leader Teacher . Further teacher training took place in Chicago in 2010.
Duncan began presenting certification courses and workshops in 2009 and has collaborated with others to bring Laughter Yoga to communities throughout Ontario.

Sue CraigReceived Laughter Yoga certification with Dr. Kataria in 2006. Sue is partner in marriage to Duncan, and brings an additional dynamic to the courses and workshops in which she co-facilitates.
Trained in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Master Practitioner level and maintains a client based practice using skills and techniques of NLP.
Sue also develops and presents workshops and courses in NLP processes.
