TRAININGS
BASS conducts various types of training to
ensure that users are competent to operate
BASS software. If customers have an internal
Operation Manual, BASS will use this as a
guideline to conduct the training as this
document would govern the customer’s
operational requirements for the software.
BASS has dedicated personnel and an internal
system to monitor and update product
documentation which comprises of User
Manuals, Release Notes, Training Materials,
Product Sheets and a Computer Based
Training system.
With regards to project-related documentation,
these are maintained in a centralized file
server and controlled with valid logins. This is
to ensure that only authorized personnel from
external parties are able to access the project
documentation at any time.
Additionally, BASS also provides in-house
training such as Super User Training, Train the
Trainer, End User Training and IT
Administration Training. Customers also have
the option to engage BASS Authorized
Training Centres where the trainers have
been trained and certified by BASS.
In addition to the training, BASS will assist
customers in preparing a BASS System
Handbook or Operation Manual for vessel-
based users. This document would contain
steps and instructions on how the crew should
use the system as per company policies &
procedures. This manual will also serve as
training material and act as a reference guide
to ensure that all staff members (both at the
office and on-board) will operate the system in
the same manner.

PROCUREMENT
Defining BASSnet™ Procurement
BASSnet™ Procurement is an advanced
system designed to streamline purchasing
activities and optimize the purchasing cycle.
Users can access a broad range of critical
business information on suppliers, prices,
goods receipts, invoices, budget statistics and

Using BASSnet™ Procurement
BASSnet™ Procurement is a highly
established purchasing system designed
especially for the maritime industry, catering to
the complete procurement cycle. It includes
modules for budgeting, requisitions, purchase
orders, invoices and for electronic approval
processing of expenses. When a purchase
request has passed through the required
approval process, the order is transmitted
automatically to the BASS Accounting system.
This eliminates the need for the manual
input of data, significantly decreases the risk
of errors and provides better cost control and
tracking of committed expenses. Users can
also utilize a contract management tool to
store all contractors/suppliers contract prices
based on an expiry date range. In addition, the
system provides an internal requisition process
where users can request and transfer
materials that are available in a warehouse or
from other vessels.
Benefiting from BASSnet™
Procurement
BASSnet™ Procurement binds everyone
together for uniform purchasing processes
even though they can be situated in different
geographical locations. Personnel off-shore

facility to store all supplier contacts and the
solution provides a detailed budget follow-up
report that can be compiled to track your latest
financial status.
Users can configure the system to send
electronic transaction alerts to the relevant
superintendent and fleet manager for review
and approval. To avoid errors, users can pre-
set approval levels for different suppliers in
accordance with the company’s relationship
with the supplier, and ensure that vessels take

projects like dry docking and
refit/conversions/modification processes are
usually a major item in the budget of running a
vessel. BASSnet™ Projects offers optimal
benefits in the effective monitoring of a dry
dock project to ensure quality work and the
efficient handling of costs. The integration with
other BASSnet™ modules such as
Procurement, Maintenance and Document
Management helps users easily create
complicated project specifications effectively,
which in turn, reduces the work-load of the
superintendent & ships staff. It also helps
management to have a clearer overview of
what is going on from a technical and
financial stand-point.
This module also includes a handy ‘designer
tool’ that allows users to create and format a
set of standard task lists that can be attached
to the jobs in a project, therefore eliminating
the need to type in common tasks for each job.
A request for bids can be sent electronically
using an MS Excel template to various yards
and these can be easily imported into the
system once the quotes are received. Users
can then generate a hardcopy of the entire
project specification in a Word of PDF file,
complete with a system designed Table of
Contents.
