Laura van Dernoot Lipsky, MSW

About Laura vanDernoot Lipsky

Laura van Dernoot Lipsky is aninternationally known trauma worker whohas been engaged in this work for 24 years.About 10 years ago, Laura shared that she

finally had to face the reality that...

Laura began to realize the importance oftaking care of herself if she wanted to

continue to take care of others. Her journeyand experiences of healing lead her to write

“Trauma Stewardship.” Now, Lauradedicates her time to sharing her knowledge

and experiences withother advocates working with

trauma on a daily basis.

Trauma stewardship explores howhumans are impacted by exposure to thesuffering, hardship, crisis and trauma of

humans, other living beings, and the planetitself. This impact is held within a larger

context of systematic oppression andliberation theory and is addressed from an

individual, organizational, systemic andsocietal based model.

Major support for this Initiative is provided by the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation. Additional support for this event is provided by the MA Department of Children and Families.
