INITIATIVE FOR SAFETY AND JUSTICE: JANE DOE INC. ADVANCING ADVOCACY | ORGANIZATIONS | LEADERSHIP Presents: Trauma Stewardship: An Everyday Guide to Caring for Self While Caring for Others Laura van Dernoot Lipsky, MSW About Laura van Dernoot Lipsky Laura van Dernoot Lipsky is an internationally known trauma worker who has been engaged in this work for 24 years. About 10 years ago, Laura shared that she finally had to face the reality that... Laura began to realize the importance of taking care of herself if she wanted to continue to take care of others. Her journey and experiences of healing lead her to write “Trauma Stewardship.” Now, Laura dedicates her time to sharing her knowledge and experiences with other advocates working with trauma on a daily basis. Trauma stewardship explores how humans are impacted by exposure to the suffering, hardship, crisis and trauma of humans, other living beings, and the planet itself. This impact is held within a larger context of systematic oppression and liberation theory and is addressed from an individual, organizational, systemic and societal based model. Major support for this Initiative is provided by the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation. Additional support for this event is provided by the MA Department of Children and Families. 2 Dates | 2 LOCATIONS Springfield Marriott Click here for directions MA Continuing Legal Education, Boston Click here for directions Registration REQUIRED.
