CORK GAA is today mourn-ing the death of Joe Mc-Grath, who coached countyteams in football and hurl-ing and who also steeredBlackrock to All-Irelandglory in the 1970s.

He was joint coach with EamonRyan when Cork defeated Kerryby a point in the 1983 Munster fi-nal with Tadhg Murphy’s famouslate goal proving decisive.

And five years later the Downnative coached Cork to the All-Ire-land U21 hurling title, defeatingKilkenny by 4-11 to 1-5 in the fi-nal.

He was also very involved in set-ting up coaching structures at na-tional level and was one of the firstfull-time coaching officers in Corkunder the Carrigdhoun banner.
