Rustenburg – Ernst Sithole (26), the attacker of 47-year-old cancer patient Adoreen Rautenbach, who bravely fought him off at her home in Klopper Street on 11 February, on Friday, 14 February appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on charges of com-mon assault, the possession of tools which could be used to break into homes or motor vehicles, and the attempted robbery of a vehicle.Captain Elsabè Augoustides of the Rustenburg SAPS once again issued a stern warning to local residents to park motor bikes inside their properties and prefer-ably out of sight. She also advises that valuable items and electronic devices such as cell phones, laptops

and cameras, should under no circumstances be left inside a vehicle.Captain Augoustides’ warning comes after Mrs Rautenbach experienced a traumatic attack when investigating why her dogs barked continuously out-side the house occupied by herself and her 72-year old mother. (Front page, the Platinum Weekly, 14 February) In this case, the story has a happy ending as con-cerned neighbours, members of several community policing services and the South African Police Ser-vices were alert and on hand to save the day – not so lucky for Ernst Sithole.
