What is Morlais?• As the Crown Estate’s appointed TPM (leaseholder / Third Party Manager) Morlais is an opportunity

provider for tidal stream array growth in Wales.• Morlais’ objective is to add value to the 37 km2 zone so that it can host 40 years of tidal power

production• Morlais will provide consent for a range of technologies producing 100MW+ of tidal power in the

zone• Morlais will provide power export connections to D and T networks for the WADZ and the

neighbouring Deep Green field (Minesto)• Morlais will raise extensive public sector funding to add this value to the WADZ, reducing developer

costs.• In order to produce a sustainable management regime for the zone, Morlais is entitled to levy a

Value Added Rent.• Though to date all activity has been undertaken by Menter Mon Ltd, a new Morlais SPV is currently

being established

The West Anglesey Tidal Field is a big deal

• 180MW with futureproofing

• A strong developer community

• Potential £200m + of inward investment

• Morlais collective consent envelope

• Morlais collective infrastructure funding

• First of its kind

• A strength in business partnership with a common cause

• Respect for diverse technologies

• Tangible meaning to the demonstration zone concept as the next summative stage of R and D – array behaviour

RISKS

CFD – Currently a large and unwelcome elephant in a small room. Some form of revenue support is required to instilconfidence for industrial development of this magnitude.

CONSENT – timing and consent conditions
