A student of foreign nationality whose entire primary and secondary education (elementary school, middle school and high school) was completed outside of Korea

4. Admission Criteria

1) Admitted students who fail to attain TOPIK Level 4 or higher before graduation will have their graduation date

postponed indefinitely. Applicants for arts or sports majors should attain TOPIK Level 3 or higher before graduation.

2) For the transfer admission, students who graduated(scheduled) from college can apply to sophomore or junior, but

to sophomore, students who completed at least one year in a four-year college program and to junior, students who

completed at least two year in a four-year college program.

3) Applicants for arts or sports majors may apply without the above mentioned language proficiency requirements, if

their departments decides that they are apt to pursue their study.

4) A student with TOPIK Level 2 (or Grade 2 on WKU’s TOPIK test) must take 300 hours or more of Korean Language

Classes at the first year. (A student must take regular classes for Korean Language at the first year)

9. Dormitory

A. Scholarship for International Students 1) For the first semester, a partial tuition waiver is possible based on the applicant’s TOPIK Level.

B. TOPIK Scholarship - Students who obtain TOPIK certification or raise TOPIK level after admitted will receive financial aid.

2) From the second semester, a merit scholarship is applied depending upon a student’s grade point average(GPA), from 30% to 60%, based on the Wonkwang University International Student Scholarship Regulations. ※ Students who do not have Health insurance will not be able to get a scholarship regardless of the their GPA.

- When admitted, a student with TOPIK Level 6 cannot receive both TOPIK Scholarship and tuition waiver. A student with TOPIK Level 5 can receive level-up scholarship when he/she raise his/her TOPIK Level.

- Room type : 2 single bed (1 room for two people)

- Furnishings : A desk, bookshelf, chair, bed, wardrobe, internet, air conditioning equipment

- Fee : 1,417,000KRW During Semester (for 16 weeks) (Management fee 628,000KRW + Food Expenses(3 meals a day

including weekends) 789,000KRW), Separate expenses during the period of vacation

- Facilities : Common washroom, shower room, toilet, dining hall, reading room, lounge, fitness center, convenient store,

laundry room, meditation room, etc.

C. Eligibility

1. Applicant and both of applicant’s parents must be foreigners 2. Applicant who are not Korean has completed all levels of education equivalent to elementary, middle school, high school and undergraduate school in a foreign Country (of 16 years)

Applicants who are qualified with respective linguistic proficiency(Korean or English) in the department shall be eligible for an admission; the linguistic proficiency required by each course in graduate school shall be secured before the submission of thesis requesting for academic degrees.

The admission for applicants of proven excellent academic accomplishments without necessary linguistic proficiencies may be granted with the conditional post-enrollment in the Korean Language Education Center of Wonkwang University.

Master’s/Combined ProgramApplicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than a Bachelor’s degree. ※ Applicants who are expecting to obtain the relevant required degree or diploma by the designated date.

Doctoral ProgramApplicants must hold a Master’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than a Master’s degree. ※ Applicants who are expecting to obtain the relevant required degree or diploma by the designated date.
