College, Luther College or First Nations University and who meet the following requirements: entering directly from a Saskatchewan High School

• Entrance scholarship average of 95% or higher • registered in a minimum of 12 credit hours throughout the

semester in which the scholarship is paid.

College, Luther College or First Nations University and who meet the following requirements: entering directly from a Saskatchewan High School Entrance scholarship average of 93%-94.99%  **NEW** registered in a minimum of 12 credit hours throughout the semester in which the scholarship is paid.

**NEW** As additional funds become available, the University of Regina will award Centennial Merit scholarships to students with entrance scholarship averages below 93% in descending order until funds are exhausted; however where a number of students have the same average we will eliminate all within that group to avoid overextending the account.

International StudiesInternational Studies• The Purpose: The International Studies degree is an

interdisciplinary program. It provides students with the intellectual tools to study the relationships between the local, national and global levels on the one hand, and the complex connections between society, culture, politics, economics and the environment on the other hand. It fosters students’ creative and critical abilities to understand contemporary issues of global dimensions as well as the challenges they pose to specific regions.

• Concentration: Asian Studies, European Studies, Latin American Studies, Development Studies, and International Affairs.

• Advantages: Career opportunities in international organizations, nongovernmental organizations, international development aid, regional development banks, multinational corporations, international press and government diplomatic services.

UR X-Celerating!Are your students ready for university? • They can take a university course while still in high school. • Students can take a class on campus or through the Regional College

near them, online, or maybe in a high school.   

What does it take?• Approval of the high school principal • Application for Admission and Registration for Visiting Students. • Admission fee ($60 – one-time payable fee)

Courses offered in Regina high schools for Winter 2007 include:  Campbell Collegiate - Political Science 100  Winston Knoll Collegiate - English 100

Education• The Teacher Education Profile is now one combined document!

The U of R Application for Admission form, the Re-admission/Transfer form, the standard Education profile (TEAP) and the B. Mus Ed. Profile are now all in one document!

– Students should use this comprehensive form to apply rather than use the on-line product.

– It is available to print from our website and there was also a mail out to all schools in the province.

• Education Deadlines– Students with post-secondary work will still apply for

December 1st with transcripts due by February 1st.– Students who are currently in high school or who are applying

with only high school will apply for March 15th. Accelerated students and students who have returned to upgrade will also follow the March 15th deadline.

Business Administration

• Now has direct entry for all new students. Students with high school averages of 85% or higher will go directly to the Bachelor of Business Administration program.

• Students between 65.0% and 84.99% would be admitted directly to the Faculty of Business Administration as Business Qualifying students. Business Qualifying is very similar to the current Pre-Business program but housed within the Faculty of Business Administration.

Let’s Review…• Registration for current high school students

(early conditional) begins on May 18th. Students should contact their Faculty/College prior to this date to set up academic advising. All new students must receive advising before they can go on-line and register in classes.

Let’s Review…• The early conditional deadline remains June

15th. Applications received after this date will be evaluated on grade 12 grades only.

Let’s Review…• Final, official high school transcripts are due in

the Admissions Office by August 1st. Final admission averages to the student’s specific Faculty are calculated at this time. Students must meet the minimum average required by their faculty in order to have their admission finalized.

Let’s Review…• Mature students (age 21 or older) are

admissible to the Faculties of Arts, Fine Arts and Social Work. Mature students may be admitted to the Faculty of Arts to qualify for transfer to the faculties other than those listed above.

Let’s Review…• As of last fall, we have both an on-line

application for admission and one for re-admission/transfer. There will be continued work in this area over the next year. To apply on-line, the student must supply a credit card number to pay the application fee.

Regina’s homepage to help students and others find answers to important questions. Questions that are not answered are saved and reported to us so that the product can be enhanced.
