Air Swivels

Side Inlet - Air Swivel (Flushing Head) is a drilling tool attached to the top of the drill pipe, primarily

used for "reverse circulation" applications. Coinciding reverse circulation (RC) pipe and/or tubing are

connected with a compressor or pump to allow circulation of drilling mud, air or water.

 A Flushing Head works by allowing the drill pipe to rotate freely while the side hose remains

stationary. In reverse circulation applications, an Air Swivel allows the cuttings to be flushed upward

into the pipe at the same time allowing cuttings to return through a customizable port through which

compressed air is blown.

Drop Off Casing System

Through years of experience and development in close coordination with drillers, Western Drilling

Tools has developed the WDT Drop-Off Casing System. This casing advancement system is

perhaps the most cost effective way to set single use casing. In addition to relatively low cost this is

still a premium quality drilling tool capable of reaching astounding depths. It was designed to drill

concentric holes for single use or retrievable casing. The drop off ring has a larger diameter than the

casing. The guide device shoulders up to the casing shoe and the drop of ring is attached.

 At Western Drilling Tools, we believe your drilling products should be constructed from the best

manufacturing core drill pipe. The drill pipe is precision machined from extremely tough 4140 L80

steel for the pipe shafts and the connector ends are made from 4140 HT or QT100; this makes them

extremely durable, wear resistant and reusable.

Cross Over Subs

Cross over subs act as an intermediary between two dissimilar threads and are used to connect the

two. A cross over sub can also be used to protect other tooling in your drill string and since the cross

over sub (also known as saver sub) is the least expensive item in the drill string it can be designed towear before any other drilling component does.

Discharge Heads

Discharge heads, also called discharge swivels

and flushing heads, are mounted to the top of the drill rig and allow a path for cuttings to be

evacuated. Western Drilling Tools offers two styles of discharge heads: rotating bearing and sealed

rubber rotating.

Down Hole Hammer

When percussion orhammer drilling the percussion mechanism is called a DTH or down the hole hammer. This drilling

tool is located directly above the down hole hammer bit. The driller transfers weight to the bit through

the drill pipe as well as provides some rotation.

PDC Bits

PDC stands for Polycrystalline Diamond Compact which refers to the cutters on these drill bits. PDC

bits have exceptional rates of penetration when drilling and can out preform other bits in the right

conditions. The diamond cutters are 10 times stronger than steel but they are Brittle and can get

damaged in discontinuous formations. PDC bits love to drill through shale’s, salty clay stone,

concrete and sands. Avoid gravel and sand stone.

PDC Bits a are an excellent choice for expensive or very deep wells and particularlyexcel when drilling in soft to medium hard formations.

PDC bits can be constructed from steel bodies or matrix bodies. You will get a deeper hole out of a

Matrix Body but they cannot be repaired or re-tipped they may crack if the driller dynamically impacts

the bit. A steel body PDC bit is much tougher than a matrix body and will not crack.

Drill Collar

These thick walled, heavy steel tubular apply weight to

the bit. Western Drilling's drill collars typically have an outside diameter of 3 1/2” to 11” and a length

of 1’ to 30’ ft; they are machined from high strength alloy steel (AISI 4145H MOD ).

Drive Shoes

Drive Shoes, also known as Casing Shoes and Barber Shoes, are welded or threaded to the end of

your casing and are used with all casing advancement systems. Threaded Casing Shoes are also

known as Casing Bits. All Drive Shoes or Casing Shoes are designed for rotary-percussive or rotary

only drilling.

Magnetic Fishing Tool

Western Drilling Tools has spent a lot of time designing a premium magnetic fishing tool that is also

very inexpensive. The drillers that have used this tool absolutely love it. It comes standard with a

removable reaming bit which helps to stabilize it while down the hole.

Over Shot

This

drilling tool is an Over Shot Fishing Tool. To construct this part, we manufacture it in a similar

fashion to the fishing spear. The over shot is precision CNC machined from hardened high alloy

steel and has a sharp internal thread profile. This fishing tool latches to the outside diameter of the

broken down hole drilling tool.

Fishing Spear

Our drilling supplies include three styles of down the hole fishing tools, the first two are a tapered

thread style. The fishing spear is a tapered down hole fishing tool that is designed to cut a thread

into the inside bore of the rotary drilling tubular. Western Drilling Tools' manufacturing process

specifies us to cut a sharp profile thread into case hardened 8620 high alloy steel.

Hammer Bits 

Western Drilling Tools' Hammer Bits or DTH Button Bits range in size from 4" hole diameter upwards

(101.6mm) to 24” (609.6mm).

1. Flat Faced Hammer Bit

These hammer bits are excellent for drilling in medium to hard formations. These hammer bits

maintain average hole straightness but have an excellent penetration rate.

2. Convex Hammer Bit

Medium to hard ground formations are no problem for this DTH Hammer Bit. The DTH bit keeps

average hole straightness but drills at an excellent speed.

3. Drop Center Hammer Bit

These DTH Hammer Bits are great for drilling through medium to hard formations. Drop Center

Hammer Bits have excellent hole straightness with an average drilling rate of penetration.

4. Concave Hammer Bit

Concave Hammer bits are ideal for drilling through medium to hard formations. These DTH hammer

bits are known to keep an extremely straight hole with an average rate of penetration.

Hole Opener

Western Drilling Tools supplies a wide assortment of hole openers for many drilling applications. The

main body is constructed from 4130-4145 high alloy steel for incredible strength and toughness. The

WDT hole openers can drill through soft to hard formations and can come equipped with Mill ToothRoller Cone Bits or TCI (tungsten carbide insert) Roller Cone Bits. These hole openers can also

come with jet nozzles to improve cleaning and provide flow directly to the cutters.

Reverse Circulation Drilling

Reverse circulation drilling is similar to air core drilling. The cuttings are returned to the surface

through an inner tube and collected for later use. This type of drilling is done by either rotary drilling

or percussion drilling with the aid of a down hole hammer. Reverse circulation drilling is a highly

utilized drilling method for mineral exploration. RC is used to retrieve continuous samples from the

ground where a solid core is not needed.

Sonic Drilling

WDT drilling supplies include a multitude of products for sonic

drilling rigs. Sonic drilling works by vibrating the drill string at incredibly high frequencies (over 50 Hz

). Once the resonant frequency is reached the procedure begins. This intense vibration causes the

drilling tools to expand and contract, most sonic rigs are manually tuned by the driller to the required

frequency. The equipment is capable of drilling up to 100m, 3 to 5 times faster than conventional

drilling without the use of mud or other lubricants. Western Drilling Tools supplies the drilling

components required to complete the hole.
