Mission of the Month: Child Acon Iniave Shoes & Socks for Isaiah’s Kids There are currently 100 students in Child Acon Iniave's (CAI) educaon- al program. Kasungami guardians cannot afford school tuion much less shoes which are required for children to aend school. Shoes are more than foot coverings; they protect children's feet from injury and ringworm. This fungus, untreated, can invade the brain and cause epilepsy. "My family couldn't afford to buy me the shoes I needed for my educaon and protecon. It was so challenging. What then will become of feet with- out shoes and socks? I could succumb to peer pressure and become robber to get them. Thank you for giving children school shoes, it was so excing to be geng new shoes.” said Joka Lumeka. The cost and the custom fees make it prohibive to send shoes and socks to the DRC. $1000.00 is needed to purchase 100 pair of shoes and socks You may donate to CAI by cash or check made out to ORUMC, memo CAI Shoes, put in the Mission envelope and place in the offering plate.
