Description:

• Soil is mixture of sandy loam and clay

• Begins in foothills of north Georgia and stretches to central part of state

• Name means foot of the mountain

• Located on top of granite plateau

Because of Georgia’s latitude and longitude, the climate is mild with a subtropical feel along the coast. Summers are hot and humid. Winters are mild.
