First Reading: Zephaniah 2:3; 3:12-13 I will leave in your midst a people humble and

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 God chose the weak of the world.

Gospel: Matthew 5:1-12a Blessed are the poor inspirit.

FROM DEACON BILL: Well here we are already through the month of Janu-ary. Were does the time go? It’s so easy to get lost in the craziness of the day as we try and fit in as much as we can into a single day. It’s time like these we have to ask ourselves if we are taking time to take care of our mental, physical, and spiritual health. Are we truly taking in those special moments of life and using them to refresh ourselves? Life tends to try and dictate to us what we should and shouldn't be doing, and with this lifestyle it makes it very tough to fit God into our lives. We as Catholics have been given the great gift of our faith to help us center our-selves and focus on God, whether we pick up our rosary, sit in front of a crucifix, or crack open that bible that is just sitting on shelf. Whatever our favor-ite faith practices, we must grab hold of them and use them to help us slow and enjoy the ride more!

This Weekend's Gospel reading takes us back to that powerful moment when Jesus calls out to men fish-ing and says "Come after me and I will make you fishers of men!" We see these men drop their lives and follow this man. Unbeknown to them, they were following the only true Son of God. What a moment this must have been for them? They must have been scared out of their minds to leave their livelihoods to follow someone they barely knew. Faith and hope has a very funny way of making us rise to the occa-sion and live a life of courage! Our faith and hope gives us the ability to continue during the difficult and hectic times, but it also helps the good times in our lives become great! As we start heading towards Lent, let us "drop our nets" and follow Him!

MINISTRY OF THE WEEK: Bereavement:

Members of this committee correspond with the de-ceased’s family with a care package and by writing cards to them periodically throughout the next year on dates that have been proven to be important. The parish sup-plies the cards and the committee member assigned to a family is asked, if possible, to make a visit at the funeral home. As part of our All Soul’s Day Commemoration, a Mass of Remembrance will be offered for those who died within the year. The families of those who died will be invited to participate in the Mass in a special way. For information, call Barb Bartolovich at 330-757-4633.

THOUGHTS FROM YOUR CRE…… ………………………………………………

“…the people who sit in dark-ness

have seen a great light…” ~Matthew 4:16

Christ has always been the great LIGHT for all peo-ple, and He has always been needed to bring love, peace, and hope into a world filled with suffering and death. This LIGHT brings all people salvation and a place in heaven. As faith-filled people, we have to remember that the Christ child born in Bethlehem is that LIGHT, that Kingdom of God, that Salvation which is alive and present in our world and in our lives.

Keep that LIGHT shining bright in your life and make that LIGHT your number one priority this year. In everything you do and say, remember, Christ the Light, must be present.

THIS WEEK: 1.Saint Bosco, whose feast day is January 31st loved to entertain others. This week do something to enter-tain someone else. Share jokes, funny stories, or learn to juggle as Saint Bosco did, but be creative! 2. Light a candle this week to remind you that Christ is our LIGHT which brings us salvation.
