Sewing InstructionsNote: This quilt uses foundation piecing, which involves sewing fabric pieces to the wrong side of a paper founda-tion. Blocks will be the mirror image of the paper pattern. To be sure you print the patterns at full size, set your printer options to Actual Size or set Scaling to None. After printing, measure the test square; it should be 1” x 1” (2.54cm x 2.54cm). If not, adjust your settings as necessary for accuracy.
1. Foundation patterns for Blocks A and B are each in two parts. Print 21 of each part onto lightweight printer paper or foundation material of your choice. Tape together, matching dashed lines, to make 21 of Block A foundation and 21 of Block B foundation.
2. Gather (1) fabric piece for each of the 15 block positions from Fabrics B – N.
3. Place a Fabric E position 1 triangle wrong side up on your work surface. With a Block A foundation right side up, center its position 1 area on top of the position 1 fabric; pin in place (Fig. 1).
Turn the foundation paper over. Place a Fabric K position 2 strip right sides together with the position 1 triangle, lining up the fabric edges that extend over the first stitching line (the line between positions 1 and 2) (Fig. 2).

Press the position 2 piece open; it should completely cover position 2 and extend at least 1⁄4” into the adjacent areas. If necessary, trim seam allowances to 1⁄4” (.6cm), being careful not to cut through the foundation.
4. Place a Fabric G position 3 strip right sides together with the position 2 strip, lining up the fabric edges that extend over the second stitching line (the line between positions 2 and 3). Sew on the second stitching line, press the strip open, and trim as before (Fig. 4).

Quilt Top AssemblyNote: All seam allowances are 1⁄4” (.6cm). 7. Arrange the A and B blocks as shown in the Quilt
Layout, alternating between A and B blocks. Sew together blocks in each row. Press seams in one direction, alternating the direction with each row.
8. Join the rows to make the quilt top. Press the seams in one direction.
Finishing9. Layer the backing, batting, and quilt top; baste the
layers together and quilt as desired. Trim the batting and backing even with the quilt top.
10. Sew the Fabric A bias binding strips together end to end using diagonal seams to make one long binding strip. Press strip in half lengthwise wrong sides together.
11. Sew the binding to the quilt top, mitering the corners. Turn the binding to the back of the quilt and hand-stitch in place.
