This information will be compiled to begin a process of formally defining our best practices. Claire Conklin and Liz Soluri, 1–2pm, Rooms TBD Excellence in Community Building: Creating a Sense of Belonging at Cabrillo Cabrillo students recently participated in the Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE). This workshop is for all employees and will provide a brief overview of the SENSE results. Workshop attendees will then participate in an activity and learn best practices that support students' sense of belonging across Cabrillo’s campuses and throughout each student’s educational journey. Amy Lehman, Robin McFarland, and Desha Staley-Raatior, 2–4pm, Room 405 Canvas Fundamentals Students want and expect to be able access their grades, communicate with the instructor and/or get course materials online for all their courses. After all, they’ve had this type of access during high school. This workshop provides hands-on help to get your course on Canvas. It is geared towards beginners or those needing a refresher. The session will provide an overview of Canvas fundamentals and best practices, and include hands-on time with Canvas tools, such as creating a Course Homepage, posting your Syllabus, setting up Modules and using the Gradebook. them are not. In this session, Dr. Person will talk about
educating the students that we have instead of educating the
students that we wish we had.

New Faculty Orientation The newest additions to the Cabrillo Faculty will have an
opportunity to learn more about the history and mission of
Cabrillo College. In addition, new faculty will participate in a
dialogue about the opportunities and challenges at Cabrillo.
Meet at 9:30am at the flagpole on campus (in front of the 100
building) for a walking tour of the campus with Paul Harvell.
Wear comfortable shoes. Meet at the Sesnon House (Room
1804) from 11:45am – 2:30pm for an orientation (lunch will be
provided), followed by the Faculty Senate meeting from 3–
5pm.
