Pennies from heaven! After a loved one has gone to heaven to be with the angels, every time you find a penny with heads up that means your loved one is still beside you. You can’t believe how many pennies our family has found since Judy has been in heaven. I can’t believe, Judy, that you have been gone over a year and, believe me, there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t think of you. Till we meet again, I hope you are having fun in heaven running with the angels. We still miss ya’ with all our hearts. Mom, Dad and your sisters and brothers.
Happy Easter and take a moment out Easter Sunday to remember your loved ones from the past. Remember you are here today and gone forever. Slow down a little and enjoy your life with your loved ones.

This is what makes cow men and their wives tough. Next SPECIAL WEIGH COW SALES will be SATURDAY, APRIL 6th and SATURDAY, APRIL 13TH. Don’t miss out. Special Bred Cows and Pairs sell every Saturday through May. Call to get properly advertised for free appraisals or latest consignments.

With a bit of planning,some smart plantchoices and the help ofthese seven gardendesigner secrets, youcan have a yard that’sthe envy of your neigh-borhood—and enoughtime to enjoy it.
1. Choose plants thatwill flourish given therealities of your yard.Some plants like fullsun while others toler-ate shade; some don’tmind freezing tempera-tures while others areunfazed by relentlessheat. Selecting plantsthat thrive in the exist-ing conditions of yoursite ensures a healthy,attractive landscape.Observe the light levelsaround your home—sixto eight hours plus ofuninterrupted sun eachday indicates full sun,four to six hours is con-sidered part shade orpart sun, and less thanfour hours would be ashaded site. Plants atthe garden centershould have tags thattell you their light pref-erences. Shoppinglocally helps ensurethat all the plants yousee will be suitable forthe climate in youryard.
2. Plant drought-toler-ant shrubs. These spe-cially adapted plantsthrive with limited wateronce they are estab-lished (usually aftertheir first season in theground). Drought-toler-ant plants sail throughhot summer days easi-ly, saving you the timeand money it takes towater the landscape.Read the tag attachedto the shrub for infor-mation on its droughttolerance or look forvisual cues such as sil-very-grey leaves, asare found on Petit Bleucaryopteris, and nar-row, needlelike foliage,as on Fine Line rham-nus.
3. Spare yourself thetime it takes to pruneyour plants by optingfor compact varieties.Compact (also knownas dwarf) plants neverget too large for thespace where you’veplanted them so youdon’t have to botherwith confusing pruninginstructions. Most peo-ple’s favorite plants areavailable in compact,no-prune varieties:hydrangea lovers can
try Little Lime or Bobod w a r f - p a n i c l ehydrangeas or the tidyCityline series of big-leaf hydrangea. Rosefans should take noteof the low-growing OsoEasy series with itsrange of 10 vivid colors,all under 3’ high. Evenbutterfly bush, a shrubnotorious for its giant,sprawling habit, isavailable in a compact2’ height with the inno-vative Lo & Beholdseries.
4. Choose plants withhigh-quality, attractivefoliage. These lookgreat even when not inbloom, beautifying yourlandscape for monthsinstead of just a fewweeks. Colorful foliage,including the dark pur-ple of Black Lace elder-berry or the cheerygold of ChardonnayPearls deutzia, and var-iegated foliage, such asMy Monet weigela orSugar Tip hibiscus,make engaging focalpoints from early springthrough late fall. Mixthem with such ever-greens as Castle Spireholly and Soft Servefalse cypress for year-round color.
5. Plant in masses ofthree, five or seven ofthe same kind of plant.This gives your land-scape a cohesive, pro-fessionally designedappearance. Plus,weeds cannot grow ifdesirable plants arealready taking up thespace, eliminating thatnotoriously tiresomegarden chore. Plantingin groups of odd num-bers is a designer’ssecret for a bold state-ment that doesn’t feeltoo formal or fussy.
6. Mulch. A two- tothree-inch-thick layer ofshredded bark mulchnot only gives your
landscape a pleasing,finished look, it con-serves water by reduc-ing evaporation. It alsokeeps plant roots cooland shaded, allowingfor healthy, vigorousgrowth that resistspests and diseasesnaturally.
7. Don’t be afraid toreplace the plants thattake too much of yourtime, or those that youdon’t really like, withnew, easy-to-growshrubs. Atwww.ProvenWinnersShrubs.com, there areso many improved vari-eties available now thatthere is little reason tosettle for anything else.

March mania, Is it basketball or the weather?? I’m going to wear my Florida Gulf Coasthat to hopefully try & warm this weather up. It’s making calving season a lot morework than it needs to be. At least this last snow went south. The grass down therewill probably be rewarded nicely when it warms up. Then I’ll be complaining aboutgrass tetany. I guess it never ends. We also had a huge fund raiser for the 4 CountyCattlemen on Sat. night. Over 40 thousand was raised for their new building project.Congratulations & good Luck. Finally here’s the most depressing aspect of Sunday’sIowa State loss, I watched the game from the Fr. Dodge McDonalds, during the game Iconsumed a Big Mac, fries, apple pie, double cheese burger & an ice cream cone. Notonly did we lose but I gained 10 lbs in the process.

Dyslexia: WarningSigns AndSolutions
(NAPSI)--One in fivepeople in the U.S. hassome sort of learningdisability like dyslexia,yet experts say that formany children, the prob-lem remains undiag-nosed far longer than itshould. Recognizing theearly signals of suchlearning differences canbe extremely importantfor a child’s success inschool and life.
Pediatric neuropsychol-ogist Nichole Dawson,Ph.D., has a son withdyslexia, and hasteamed up with LearningAlly, a national nonprofit,to inform the publicabout dyslexia’s earlywarning signs, advisingparents on what to lookfor.
Dr. Dawson recom-mends watching yourchild to see if he or shehas difficulty with:
• learning the alphabet,identifying letters, and/orprocessing letter-soundrelationships;
• learning nurseryrhymes, preschoolsongs, the days of theweek, the months of theyear;
• learning to count andrecognize numbers;
• reading out loud (slow,“choppy” and errorprone);
• learning vocabulary,names of people andplaces.
Get An ExpertEvaluation
If a child is exhibitingsome of these symp-toms, an evaluation byan expert in dyslexiaand reading impair-ments may be helpful.School psychologists,pediatric neuropsychol-ogists, educational ther-apists and speech lan-guage pathologists areamong the professionalswho are qualified to pro-vide a diagnosis.
Dr. Dawson advises par-ents not to delay testing.“Studies show that achild’s reading skill levelat the end of kinder-garten is predictive ofwhere his or her readingskills will be in thirdgrade,” she says. “Afterdiagnosis, supports andaccommodations canhelp children with learn-ing differences succeedacademically.”
One proven accommo-dation she points to isLearning Ally, which pro-vides struggling readerswith access to their cur-riculum via audio text-books.
“Learning Ally is remark-ably effective for individ-uals with dyslexia aswell as other reading orlearning challenges,”Dawson says. “Its libraryof 75,000 digital titles—the largest of its kind inthe world—can beplayed on everydaydevices including PCs,Macs, iPhones andiPads.”
Learning Ally’s websiteoffers robust support toparents and even pro-vides a directory for find-ing specialists near yourhome.
Happily, successfulintervention can reduceacademic frustration
and minimize the nega-tive impact of dyslexiaon a child’s learning suc-cess. All it takes is theright tools.
