What a fabulous time of year to be involved in school activities! Even though this is my first year at Timber Creek, I am realizing that elementary school life this time of year is similar on all campuses. The days go by quickly, and the calendar is full of events. We are planning our end-of-year awards assemblies and parties, and PE is planning for an active Field Day. Our annual Talent Show is fast approaching and many of our students are being recognized on and off campus for an abundance of activities and contributions. There is a place for everyone to help, so please don’t hesitate to get involved!
You may have noticed some brightly colored t-shirts being awarded to students lately. These are in recognition of our Kids with Character program. Each classroom is able to recognize a student that exemplifies the character trait being highlighted. The character traits include being trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, caring, and good citizenship. It is a delight to see the faces of those students chosen by their class as they wear their t-shirts with pride!
It was also my pleasure to attend Texas Woman’s University last week for the First Annual Earth Week Poster Show. Our teachers, Mrs. McMahan and Mrs. Harycki submitted student work that was chosen for the show! What an accomplishment for these talented 1st grade students. Congratulations to Jiro, Waylon, Lynden, Sean, Alexis, and Newton! What a wonder-ful compliment for our school to be represented.
Lastly, please help your child stay organized these last few weeks. The activities at this time of year often involve bringing items and signing permission slips, along with regular reading and homework assignments. Packing up backpacks the night before often helps the mornings get off to a stress free start! Thank you for partnering with us.
Sincerely, Dr. Sharon Heier Proud Principal of Timber Creek Elementary
