The specifically designedgeometry of the Xt skimmer cone minimizespolyatomic species in complex matricesmaking possible, for example, the detectionof iron at �g/L level. Intelligent sampling for greater throughput

Additional functionality and convenience features, as well as new and improved sampleintroduction systems, add value and even greater productivity to your XSERIES 2 ICP-MS.

ESI SC-FAST autosamplerThe SC-FAST from ESI consists of anautosampler, a 6 port switching valve,on-line mixing of diluent/internal standardand a robust, low dead volume nebulizerand peltier cooled spray chamber. A sampleloop on the injection valve takes on the roleof the sample vial. The loop is filled using ahigh flow vacuum pump. Once the loop isfilled the valve is switched and the sampleis pushed to the nebulizer by a carrier flowof dilute acid. This mode of sample transferensures that the sample does not come intocontact with the peristaltic pump tubing,removing a major cause of sample carry-over and blank contamination. Keeping thedistance from the loop to the nebulizer shortprovides a rapid rise to steady state signaland once the analysis is complete,

switching the valve produces a rapid returnto baseline, dramatically reducing bothuptake and rinse times. During sampleanalysis the autosampler sends the probe tothe rinse station for cleaning and then movesit to wait over the next sample, saving onautosampler movement time. The low deadvolume mixing T allows high ratios of dilutionto be performed, meaning sample racks canbe transferred directly from ICP-OES to ICP-MS without any further dilution.

LA-ICP-MSCoupling the XSERIES 2 with a Laser Ablation system provides apowerful tool for the multi-elemental analysis of both conductingand non-conducting solids in a range of applications.

Not only can the laser and ICP-MS software run on the samePC but, uniquely, the XSERIES 2 requires no additional cabling oradditional configuration for triggered LA-ICP-MS analyses.

‘Laser Patterns’ defined in the New Wave1 laser software areautomatically assigned to analyses in PlasmaLab’s ‘Sample List’.With this level of integration, Laser Ablation analyses can be assimple to set up as an autosampler.

The data transfer between the two systems is fully bidirectionalallowing for fail-safe automated analyses, important when precioussamples (e.g. zircons etc.) would otherwise be needlessly ablated.

GC-ICP-MSCoupling capillary GC with the XSERIES 2 offers outstandingseparation power with rapid, sensitive detection for thedetermination of ultra-trace elemental species.

The XSERIES 2 GC-ICP-MS coupling kit incorporates a uniquedual mode sample introduction system. Simultaneous introductionof a liquid in parallel to the GC gas stream allows for a moreflexible approach to optimization, quantification and internalstandardization whilst maintaining a robust wet plasma.

Volatile elemental species, separated by GC, are transferred tothe plasma using a heated transfer line with the aid of a PlasmaLabcontrolled additional gas flow.
