Water returns to the earth in the form of precipitation. There are many different forms of precipitation. Do you know which of these choices are not a form of precipitation?

PrecipitationWhen clouds get too full of water, it rains. After the rain

falls from the sky it can go into a lot of different places. Let’s see where we end up!

When water begins to group together into a pond, lake, stream, river…well, you get the idea…the sun warms it. Once the water gets hot enough it turns into water vapor, which is still water but it’s light enough to float up into the sky.

CondensationBut once a cloud is formed, the water vapor does not

stop rising. Water vapor continues to fill the clouds and they get bigger…and bigger… until they can’t hold anymore water. That’s when it rains!
