Brief review of events• The US went to war with Spain in Cuba.• US also sent ships to the Philippines and

destroyed the Spanish fleet there.• After the US won in Cuba, they bought the

Philippines for $20 million.• Instead of supporting Aguinaldo and

Philippine Independence, they decided to annex the Philippines which led to a long war.
