PPIA.

PPIA (Indonesian Students Association of Australia) is a non-profit organisation aiming to unite all Indonesian students and at the same time contribute to the nation in terms of cultural recognition to the foreign community. PPIA is divided into three divisions:

• Central which is the leading level as the national board of the association. It represents Indonesian students as a whole and becomes a builder for all PPIA branches.

• Branches are located in everystate in Australia (New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territory, ACT, South Australia). The branch-es serves to unite the lowest level of PPIA and as the facility to bond the members of PPIA sub-branches.

• Sub-branches, which are placed in several universities of each state. It assists to recruit members at the campus level.

(Indonesian Students Association of Australia)

The membership is settled automatically where each student who becomes a member of PPIA sub-branch, they will di-rectly become the member of PPIA cen-tral. For the success of its activities, PPIA is affiliated with the Consulate General of Indonesia along with the cooperation of the Indonesian community organiza-tions at every level of state. Thus, PPIA has become an organization with a large exposure to the wider community in Australia, both Indonesians and locals.

TEMU LAWAK 2016.

Objectives

Through this production, PPIA Victoria aims to be the platform for PPIA branch-es and various Indonesian communities in Victoria to express their passion in performing arts. In the spirit of unity in di-versity, we believe we are able to deliver a thoughtful performance to speak the aspiration from Indonesia’s young gen-eration and also bring a positive impact to the young generation to have more contribution to Indonesia.

Background

We commemorate the Independence Day of Republic of Indonesia annually on August the 17th. As Indonesians, we are responsible to preserve the spirit of independence which is the result of our heroes’ hard-works and struggles. The reading of proclamation text in 1945 does not guarantee the perpetuity of in-dependence and freedom if the people of Indonesia grow careless about the na-tion. Independence Day is the moment to nurture our spirit of nationalism, unity, and enthusiasm for the country with de-velopment and achievement.

On behalf of PPIA Victoria, we proudly present the first comedy performance collaboration, “TEMU LAWAK”. We will bring comedy drama musical together with stand-up comedy by Pandji Pragi-waksono.

PERFORMANCE DETAILS.

Despite the comedy theme, this art performance will have an enchanting concept with a profound message. Our final and most crucial goal is to create a spirit of change for the Indonesian youth.

We believe Temu Lawak 2016 will form a strong relationship to each party who support and contribute. The presence of the Pandji Pragiwaksono will also signifi-cantly attract more prospective audi-ences. By becoming a sponsor or partner of Temu Lawak 2016, your company will have extensive exposure access as we are targeting for 850 audiences.

Day, Date : Saturday – August 20th, 2016Time : 3.00-pm – 7.00pm AESTVenue : Athenaeum Theater 188 Collins St. Melbourne, VIC 3000 Ticket Price : $5 – $15 (depend on seating location)

Temu Lawak 2016 will arouse some cur-rent critical issues of Indonesian youth. We are aware that until recently, Indone-sian future generations still have an apa-thetic attitude towards their country. This destructive gesture has been weakening Indonesian youth’s sense of belonging to their nation.

Through this stage-show, we attempt to encourage the young generations to enhance their sense of belonging to-wards Indonesia by carrying out a per-sonal self-reflection. Moreover, we would like to escalate Indonesian youngster’ cultural knowledge, so they get to know their heritage better and love Indonesia more.

Temu Lawak will bring together drama comedy by Indonesian students and standup comedy by Pandji Pragiwakso-no. Indonesian traditional dances and music will also be presented by Indo-nesian community organization in Mel-bourne.
