TV & RADIO BROADCASTING AND IP TV

DIGITAL PLATFORM SERVICES – DVB-S AND DVB-S2

Telespazio currently operates six most advanced MCPC Digital Platforms on Hot Bird 13C

and 13D from the Fucino Earth Station in Italy, transmitting about 100 TV, Radio and IP

over DVB services.

Transmissions are performed either at Constant Bit Rate (CBR) and Variable Bit Rate

(VBR), Free-To-Air (FTA) or with different Conditional Access Systems (CAS).

Channels are transmitted either at Standard and High Definition.

Telespazio follows the evolution of technology with the aim of guaranteeing to its customer

base new cost effective solutions.

To this end a new DVB-S2 Eutelsat Hot Bird 13 East Digital Platform has been launched on

September 1st 2013, offering the possibility to deliver on the most viewed European orbital

position, HD and SD channels at extremely low rates per Mbit/s.

The company, is able to better respond to programs distribution requirements over specific

geographical regions such as Europe, MENA, North and South America, Africa and Asia.

TURN-KEY SERVICES

Telespazio provides customers with the

design, installation, operation and

maintenance of the transmitting systems.

Telespazio designs, installs, and manages

systems and provides remote monitoring

through its National Television Control

Centre in Lario E/S.

Most of the TV uplink stations are

transmitting to Hot Bird satellites for DTH

television bouquets, others are used for

contribution and distribution.

Uplink systems located at Customer

premises are complemented with a full back

up service, provided by means of a

dedicated uplink station located at

Telespazio’s Teleports.

For broadcasters requiring very high

reliability, Telespazio developed and

implemented the innovative XBM

(Transponder Backup Manager).

XBM provides automatic traffic switch

between two uplinks locations, in site

diversity, in case of bad weather conditions

or during disaster recovery operations.

TELEPORT SERVICES

Telespazio provides broadcast teleport

services through its main Earth Stations,

Fucino in central Italy (visibility 57°W–

83°E) and Lario in the North (visibility

45°W–65°E).

Their favorable geographical positions, in

respect to the Atlantic and Indian Ocean

Regions, allows the teleports to operate at

favourable elevation angle with the main

satellites in the two areas. Thanks to fast

and reliable fiber optics connectivity with

major domestic and international Telco

operators, Telespazio provides European

and Transcontinental C and Ku band

services covering all possible customer

requirements - on an occasional or

permanent basis - such as Digital Platform

services, uplink backup services and

turnaround services.

Transcontinental L, C, Ku, K and Ka Band

uplink, downlink and turnaround services,

including encryption, compression and

television standard conversion.
