NOTES:
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION OF TRAFFIC AND STAGING PLANS TO THE RESIDENT ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION. ANY MODIFICATION OF THE APPROVED PLANS SHALL REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 72 HOUR NOTICE AND APPROVAL OF THE RESIDENT ENGINEER.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE UNINTERRUPTED ACCESS TO ALL BUSINESSES AND RESIDENCES WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS AT ALL TIMES. CLOSING ACCESS SHALL BE COORDINATED 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A MINIMUM TRAVEL LANE WIDTH OF 10'-0" DURING CONSTRUCTION . 4. WHEN THE MINIMUM LANE WIDTH OF 10' CANNOT BE MAINTAINED. ONE-WAY FLAGGING OPERATION IS REQUIRED. 5. TYPE II BARRICADES MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR TYPE Ill BARRICADES AS PER 619 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS 6. WORK IS LIMITED TO ONE SIDE OF ROAD AT A TIME TO MINIMIZE DISRUPTION TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC. 7. WORK IS LIMITED TO THREE BLOCKS OR 700'. WHICHEVER IS LESS. 8. CONSTRUCTION STAGING AREA IS TO BE DETERMINED BY CONTRACTOR . NO USE OF PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY IS ALLOWED, UNLESS APPROVED BY VILLAGE. 9. ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL MEASURES SHALL CONFORM TO THE LATEST EDITION OF MUTCD AND NYS SUPPLEMENT. 10. TO PERMIT ADEQUATE VISIBILITY AT INTERSECTIONS, ALL BARRICADES SHALL BE PLACED SO NOT TO HINDER PEDESTRIAN OR VEHICULAR SIGHT LINES. 11. NOTWITHSTANDING PROVISIONS HEREIN CONTAINED, IT REMAINS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO IMPLEMENT ADDITIONAL MEASURES THAT ARE NECESSARY TO PROVIDE FOR AND MAINTAIN THE SAFETY
OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS DURING CONSTRUCTION. THE PROVISIONS AND USE OF SUPPLIES SUCH AS TRAFFIC CONES, HIGH VISIBILITY RIBBONS AND FLAGS WHERE NECESSARY OR DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER TO BE EMPLOYED. COST INCLUDED IN ITEM 619.01
12. AT LOCATIONS WHERE EXISTING SIDEWALK IS CLOSED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PLACE A TYPE Ill BARRICADE WITH MUTCD R9-9 "SIDEWALK CLOSED" SIGN. WHEN SIDEWALK IS CLOSED IN THE MIDDLE OF A STREET, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PLACE MUTCD R9-11 "SIDEWALK CLOSED AHEAD, (ARROW) CROSS HERE" SIGN AT THE CLOSEST SAFE CROSSING.
13. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL POST CONSTRUCTION WARNING SIGN IN CONFORMANCE WITH SHEETS 619-50 AND AS REQUIRED. 14. THE CONTRACTOR MUST NOTIFY THE NYACK DPW, THE NYACK POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS OF ALL DETOURS, PROPOSED STREET CLOSINGS, OR ANY WORK THAT MIGHT
AFFECT THE MOBILITY OR ACCESS OF THE FIRE OR POLICE DEPARTMENT 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF THEIR IMP LEMENTATION . IN ADDITION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT HYDRANTS AND ALARM BOXES ARE KEPT CLEAR AND AVAILABLE.
15. NO MATERIAL IS TO BE PLACED ON THE SHOULDER OR THE EDGE OF PAVEMENT, EXCEPT THAT WHICH IS TO BE PLACED THAT DAY. 16. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION OF TRAFFIC. MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC SCHEMES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLANS, THE MUTCD
AND AS APPROVED OR AS DIRECTED BY THE NYACK DPW. TRAFFIC SCHEMES SHOWN ON THE PLANS OR ON THE MUTCD ARE TO BE CONSIDERED MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS . 17. AREAS BEYOND THE WORK LIMITS DISTURBED FOR ANY REASON, BY THE CONTRACTOR AND HIS EMPLOYEES, SHALL BE RESTORED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE NYACK DPW AT THE
CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. 18. DURING PERIODS OF TEMPORARY ACCESS TO BUILDINGS THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SNOW REMOVAL OF ACCESS TO BUILDINGS AND TEMPORARY SIDEWALKS.
