MethodsSUBJECTS

In our survey, we found information from 100 students. Students

were required to be from Rowan University and were from ages

18-22. Approximately 50 of the students were athletes that are

apart of a division 3 Rowan University sports team. The other 50

students that were surveyed were non-athletes.

METHODSprocedures

When handing out our survey we all decided it would be best to do it by hand rather than virtually. This

way we knew that each person was definitely receiving the survey and could not say they didn’t get an

email. Our process in handing out each survey may be a little different than most groups. For our

survey we had two variables: students vs. athletes. Since I play on the Rowan Women’s Lacrosse team

I will be distributing the surveys to my teammates as well as other teams within athletics. As for the

regular students we will be distributing them by walking door-to-door in Rowan Boulevard (where

most of us live) and handing the survey out individually to each student. Rather than wait for each

student to fill out the survey I will tell each student to slip the survey under my apartment door when

they are finished. By giving each student their space, they are more likely to be honest when taking the

survey rather than being nervous of me judging them when standing there. Once we receive all of our

surveys back we will all sit down together and go over our collected data.

For our study population we have decided to create and hand out a

survey of questions to better assess our subjects. The survey is made

up of multiple choice questions, which survey qualitative and

quantitative information. We have narrowed the survey to three

separate questions to further the accuracy of our survey. Below you

will find a sample of the survey we will be handing out to our study

population.

methodsdata analysis

The data analysis of our survey included quantitative and qualitative questions. Once we have

gathered information from our surveys, we will analyze the data by going through ourselves and

dividing them into groups. After separating the males and the females we will further place them in

into groups of athletes and non-athletes. Age and grade of the participants will also be taken in to

consideration. Another factor we will look at is if the person is a commuter or lives on Rowan’s

campus. We will compare the answers of all these groups and determine how being in a certain

group effects the answers of the individuals.  

The qualitative responses will show us how many students have similar open-ended answers. While

the quantitative will show us which is the most common based on the specific answers we

provide. We will project our data in an excel chart including all components. The chart will clearly

show the variation of answers between all groups we included in our study.
