Today’s Meditation

Matthew’s Gospel today expands on Isaiah’s ballad considerably. A comparison with the same story in Mark’s Gospel clearly shows us that here the author is busy teaching this community of Jewish Christians: “This is a story about Israel a long time ago; this is also a story about Jesus and the skeptical leaders.”

Jesus as much as told these Jewish leaders that they were the tenants who first stoned their own prophets. And he told the leaders they were the tenants who would soon even dispose of him—Jesus—and, in doing so, would forfeit their privileged place of presenting to the world the promised Messiah. “And this,” says Matthew’s Gospel, “is a story about you, the inheritors of what was first offered to Israel.” The reign of God was first opened to Israel and is now given to the whole world, but it must be received as a gift. The first Christians are the new tenants in the vineyard. The deeper reality of the reign or kingdom of God is that it is available to everyone on the face of the earth—Israel included. Our Mission Statement

In recognition of God’s love and presence in every human being, the members of Saint Stanislaus Parish embrace the challenge to serve God and all His people. In fellowship with one another, we nurture our Catholic Faith through the celebration of the sacraments and reflection on the word of God. As a welcoming and culturally diverse Faith Community, we strive to proclaim and live the good News of Jesus Christ while providing for the spiritual and physical needs of those less fortunate.

First Reading — The vineyard of the LORD is the house of Israel (Isaiah 5:1-7). Psalm — The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel (Psalm 80). Second Reading — God’s peace will guard your hearts and minds (Philippians 4:6-9). Gospel — The kingdom of God will be given to those who will produce its fruit (Matthew 21:33-43). Should the Ladies Guild hold

our

Annual Spaghetti Dinner????

As you know, we are unable to hold our Annual Spaghetti Dinner in the Fellowship Hall due to the virus restrictions of social distancing.

In an attempt to determine the interest of our parishioners in supporting this fundraiser, the

Ladies Guild has a sign-up sheet in the Gathering Area.

We ask everyone who would support us by purchasing a ‘‘To Go – Take Out’ Spaghetti Dinner’ please sign the sheet and indicate the number of dinners you would like and the type of sauce you would prefer.

As always, we offer sauce with meat or without and our dinners will include a delicious Spaghetti dinner, salad, bread and dessert of a ridiculously low price of $6.00.

The number of responses to this canvas will determine the Guild’s decision whether to offer our Spaghetti Dinner this year.

These are bad times for all of us and the Guild appreciates your situation and we pray for this virus to be eliminated from our country very soon.

Pray the Rosary

During the Month of October we will be reciting the Rosary each weekend 30 minutes before the start of Mass in honor of the Blessed Mother. Please join us as we pray to her in this very crucial time in our world.

Stations of the Cross Via Crucis Prayer Garden

We will resume reciting the Stations of the Cross in our Via Crucis Prayer Garden after the 9:00 a.m. Mass on the second Sunday of the month. Please join us next

Sunday, October 11th at 10:15 a.m. in our Prayer Garden.
