STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT:

“…proclaim the word, be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient...” (2 Timothy 4:2)

It is not always convenient to be a good steward, especially when all the temptations of our busy and materialistic world get in the way. Now add our own pride and ego into the equation and living a stewardship lifestyle may be downright uncomfortable! Remember, God didn’t call us to be comfortable. He called us to be faithful.

Please contact me as soon as possible. Paul Koleske’s music at our liturgies this past weekend and his concert and reflections on Sunday night were very well received by parishioners. Our Parish Family Dinner was a good experience, too. Thank you to all who helped as volunteers and to all who attended.

Remember our new Mass Schedule:

Saturday at 4:30 PM at St. Paul Church; Sunday at 8:00 AM at St. Paul Church; and Sunday at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Leetonia;

and Religious Education Classes for students of both Parishes in grades 1-8 will be held at St. Paul School beginning Sunday, October 6, from 9:15 to 10:40 am. With love, prayers, & gratitude,

Father Bob Edwards

Father Bob’s Corner .

Dear Friends,

In St. Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy, we read, “Remain faithful to what you have learned and believed….” (2 Timothy 3:14)

Mother Teresa of Calcutta has often been quoted as saying that God did not ask her to be successful but to be faithful. That is what God asks of us, too: be faithful to the teaching of Christ and the Church. Today is a good time for us to renew our commitments to faithfulness.

Congratulations to St Patrick Pierogi Makers on winning the prize for Best Professional Pierogi in the Pierogi of the Valley 2019 Cookoff! Suzanne Tobuck, Jeanette Watkins and Sonia Kennedy represented all the volunteers who made the pierogis. They received a plaque for their efforts.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Angie Beltempo of St. Patrick Parish on a monumental birthday. God bless you, Angie.

This past Monday, at St. Paul Pastoral Council Meeting, four parishioners of St. Paul and St. Patrick Parishes presented me with a petition about hiring a music director. I appreciate their efforts at encouraging the selection of a music director. I am sorry that it has taken so long to secure someone for this position. I hope to have news for you within two weeks. It is difficult finding someone. Thank you for your patience and please pray for us.

THE BANQUET IN SALEM

The Monday evening Banquet in Salem which currently serves about 185 meals, began on Sept. 20, 2004, & has met food & fellowship needs of the hungry & lonely in our area every Monday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Due to the economic hardships, a Thursday evening banquet was added on the 4th Thursday of each month & is currently serving about 137 meals. The average cost to provide 200 meals is approximately $500 to $600.

St. Paul Church is sponsoring the Monday, November 4th banquet which includes a team of 22-26 members with Donna Dermotta & Rose Bedell, team captains.

The Salem banquet is quite different than a soup kitchen because the volunteers share the food & fellowship with the guests.

If you are interested in joining the St. Paul church team on November 4th, please call the parish office at 330-332-0336. St. Paul Church will be

sponsoring another banquet in the spring. Your name will be added to our volunteer list.

ST. PAUL's CHURCH SCRIP PROGRAM is getting ready for autumn - cooler weather, colorful leaves, football, hockey plus Halloween and more. We have Wal-Mart gift cards to purchase warmer clothing and your favorite sports gear, plus comfort food that only is available now. They also have gift cards available from Amazon to Zappo's for the person that needs a gift or plans to patronize a specific retailer in the future. You can find Wal-Mart, Giant Eagle and other retailer's gift cards at the back of church after the 4:30 pm Saturday and the 8:00 am Sunday Masses. You can also contact Beth at 330-332-8185 for more information or to place an order.

Our October luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, October 24th, at 11:30 am, at Salem Senior Housing Community room.

A special soup buffet will be served.

Wear your best Halloween shirt. It’ll be fun.

Additional information will be forthcoming. Please call the parish office for reservations.
