Catholic Home Missions Appeal August 8-9, 2020.

What Is a Home Mission Diocese? Home mission dioceses are those dioceses in the United States, its territories, and former territories that cannot provide basic pastoral services to Catholics without outside help. Basic pastoral services include Mass and the other sacraments, religious education, and ministry training for priests, deacons, religious sisters, and lay people. Right now, over 40 % of dioceses are considered home missions.

The parish contributes to this appeal from your donated funds to the church. A gift of $1,000 will be mailed to the Dio-cese for Catholic Home Missions. If you would like to donate personally for this cause, please mark your contribution for this appeal and it will be sent to the Diocese in addition to the Parish donation. Donations can also be made through the USCCB web-site electronically.

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY: Saturday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. Normally, this is a Holyday of Obligation. Since it falls on a Saturday this year, the obligation to attend Mass is dispensed. However, it remains a day of special devotion. Mass for the Feast of the Assumption will be celebrated on the morning of Saturday, August 15th at 9:00 a.m.

PRIEST’S RETREAT: The annual retreat for priests which normally takes place the first week of June has been re-scheduled for the week of August 16th. All of the priests, including Father Gary, will be on retreat. As a result, there will be NO WEEKDAY MASSES THIS WEEK. Please pray for all the priests of our Diocese as they make their annual retreat.

they would be so for one reason: HOLY COMMUNION
